Mulan (2020) - Chink War Movie

Hmmmmmmmm....

You know these recent fake female empowerment movies are really just the opposite extreme of the women being helpless cliche and sexist in a different way. It is basically saying that you are only special by virtue of being a woman or that a woman can only be special if she was born that way instead of through hard work and determination. These movies don't really empower woman at all but instead just glorify them and not showing woman can be just as tough as men.

So Mulan has superpowers because she is some "chosen one." They fucking turned one of the most personality-filled Disney Princesses into another Rey/Captain Marvel/invincible wooden plank.

I'm almost impressed by how this terrible idea made it into the movie. It takes effort to write something this bad. Goddamn.
Gotta suckle that Chinese money teat, apparently.

I really want to know how can a writer that works for a humongous entertainment conglomerate like disney could not only miss the point of the story to begin with, but miss a point that was so obviously spelled out, that even a 2 year old could see it! How does one fuck up this hard? This isn’t just shitty writing, it’s straight up not getting a simple concept of a story that was very easy to see.

Just saw this clip from the movie's climax

It's awful, the movie looks like Westerners tried to make a wuxia-type film like Crouching TIger, HIdden Dragon, except with the budget and cinematographers and camera crew and all of a made-for-television film from the mid-1990s. That's part of the problem with movies today, you have these films which have had millions and millions spent on them but the camerawork, lighting, everything is pedestrian and feels cramped, like they're being filmed on a sitcom set.

The Chinks could make a film like better themselves, and this is supposed to appeal to them? If this is the best Disney can do at making a wuxia film it's like the cringe inducing Western attempts at making anime from the 2000s.

Found a long thread of someone live tweeting the movie, in case you want to see just how bad it gets without watching it.

Disney's China appeal angle makes even less sense when their attempts to make the movie more Chinese are handled shoddily.

Kung Fu Panda is a better western made wuxia movie than this is. And the Chinese audience liked that one, leading to the third one being co-produced in China.

While I’m pleased to see that people aren’t actively seeing this CCP-propping drivel I’m more worried about these lemmings NOT LEARNING A DAMN THING ABOUT THE LIVE-ACTION REMAKES and saying they’d APPROVE of a live-action Oliver and Company remake.

Seriously, if I wanted to see that I’d watch an Oliver Twist film.

*Thinks*

Doesn't the emperor Catch an arrow barehanded?

Who remembers the mythbusters episode where..they test the arrow catch and basically you have to be Spiderman tier to pull it off?

Regular Mongol Guy vs Spiderman. WHO IS GOING TO WIN THIS?
