Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Senior Democrat officials are high on their own supply. They forgot their base is blue collar working stiffs in New England and the rust belt. Now they believe it’s cat ladies and the coalition of the fringes. They believe people are less concerned about how to cover next months mortgage and more about Russian hackers and white supremacists under every bed. Makes it real easy for a guy like Trump to scoop these states up.

1. His skin is pretty red. Disturbingly red.

2. Biden seems to be slipping into a "mush mouth." Previously he could talk enunciate his confusion but now it sounds his tongue is too big for his mouth.

Worth a watch, Just for how he says what he does. He gets there, But wanders all over the place and down a bunch of side roads to do it. That could have been said in about twenty or thirty seconds if he'd just get to the point.

Wo- I hope you can trust the governors, but here's the deal. The federal government, there's a ??? to whether the federal government could issue such a mandate. I don't think constitutionally they could. So I wouldn't issue a mandate, but I plead with, I carry my mask with me everywhere I go. I set an example, I make sure that- and I understand what's happening, I see what's happening in your state. The numbers are going down because local authorities have taken er, responsibility of issuing mandates in their cities and their counties. And fewer people are showing up, without mask. The public is taking, note of what in fact increases the prospect of the virus coming down. Hence we need basic social responsibility. And those who talk about "my freedom to wear a mask", what- what about your patriotism to protect your neighbor from getting sick because you might be communicating the virus? I- I think this is such a selfish way to approach things. It's about making sure the public is safe and secure. And that is a local decision but there should be national standards laid out as to how it should be done about. You can't mandate that. But to set the example of what may be done.

1) We've already had CDC guidance (both written and oral) all this time, and especially with the introduction of the COVID taskforce.
2) He could have just as easily contrasted freedom versus liberty-- missed a prime opportunity with that, and presumably everyone else has and will continue to do so.

I bet you the national mask mandate is one of those policy positions the party is only pushing during the campaign, and fully intends to drop after the election. Biden's just senile enough that he knows it's not something he can pass realistically but keeps forgetting he has to pretend otherwise, especially since they're walking back a lot of other positions besides the mask mandate right now.

He knows, which is why he's downgrading to "I'm going to ask really really nicely for the states to mandate it", which is still able to be contrasted with Trump not doing that but is otherwise meaningless.
