Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I get depressed from YT videos that are not even a year old anymore. I've been watching convention-related stuff where a bunch of people are gathered together to celebrate a common interest, lots of smiles and enjoyment all around without a single retarded mask in sight and, fuck, it feels like we'll never get to see moments like that ever again...

I'm just tired. So very, very tired... (:_(
It's extremely sad, and what's worse, it's far less sad than what's to come. If you're in any kind of urban area, for god's sake, get out of there.

If the virus was as deadly to one and all as they were claiming, then the protests would have killed thousands by now. Notice anyone missing? That's what I thought.
Personally I'll wear a mask in stores just because meh, whatever. But I will not put up with anyone saying this is normal, because it is not. I don't go start arguments but I stand firm on my opinion that it isn't that bad, but they can go do what they want.
I think what irritates me most about it is that it doesn't matter that I do not fear the germs, it's that if a business I want to visit is run by someone too afraid to open, then it isn't open. So frustrating.
People still don't get it: this has irreperably wrecked the global economy. The stores that closed will never open, and the ones that are still open will soon be closed. There's simply no way to come back from this. If you understand how our alleged "economy" works, you understand that it cannot function under these circumstances. As bad as things already are -and they're plenty bad- they will become far, far worse in the next year or two. This cannot be bandaged over. Mass failure of businesses as a direct response to governement decree will snowball, and that will also affect tax collection. The government can't possibly print enough money to cover all the losses in businesses and local governments. We'd be lucky if this response to Covid merely claimed the lives of 1000x the lives claimed by Covid. There's basically no way to protect yourself at this point. All I can advise is to get out of the city if you're living in one.

The scary part is how much they're pushing the flu shot when people who had gotten the flu shot were more susceptible to Corona.

No vaccine is "safe", and I believe they exaggerate the benefits and downplay the risks. It's weird to me that it's a faith based argument to take vaccines, and not rigorous and transparent risk/benefit testing of each and every vaccine.

I've had virtually every vaccine known to man, but I always refused the flu vaccine. I didn't see the point in vaccinating myself for something that is unlikely to kill me and will probably improve my immune system and will only be back the following winter anyway.

I'm reluctant to take the covid vaccine because I echo the sentiments of others on this thread. I'm concerned that it will be rushed out and that we won't know the consequences of the vaccine until many years/decades later.

On the flip side, as this virus is global, how lackadaisical can they be with it without serious ramifications?

NGL, I used to get sick all the time, and now I get the flu vaccine and never get sick. I think there is some validity to it, but people who don't get flu shots shouldn't be considered anti-vaxxers.

Also, does anyone not understand closing down borders? If every place has corona, what is the use shutting down borders? It doesn't make sense.

If you are thinking about traveling, I love this site. It gives me hope. click hurr

That's interesting that you never got sick after taking the vaccine. I haven't been sick in a long while *gently touches close wooden object*

I did understand the shutting of borders in the beginning when they weren't sure what had spread to where, if some countries had no cases and what the numbers were, but at this point, it's all a bit strange.

We are allowed to go to some countries but not others. Some countries have different rules to others. It doesn't seem to be straight across the board or consistently implemented in anyway. Some people I know are travelling. Some haven't left their house since March. The misinformation is really not helping.

Fuck anyone who profited off the coof by creating all this hysteria.

This year has been literally wiped out. While the quarantine is not as strict as it was, we still have to wear masks inside fast food, shops and public transport. Our government has instituted insane social distancing requirements, all the while getting their hands on the money pie, that was created under the guise of the "COVID-19 relief fund".

Ahhhhhhhh!

this is anecdotal, However my neighborhood theres a lot new for sale sign's on houses and around town a lot of for lease signs at small businesses

Yesterday was on a Skype call with my old roommate in Australia.

He remains in lockdown in Melbourne. The government announced on Sunday that the curfew will be continuing until the end of October but may be extended from 8PM to 9PM (depending on the infection rate). If the numbers go down to 5 a day for 2 weeks straight some of the restrictions might be lifted, people might be allowed to have a meal outside, have 5 visitors to their homes etc. If there are no cases for 28 days straight then Melbourne will be where the rest of Australia is now, limited in door dining, small wedding and funeral parties, movie theaters a third full and so on. Basically the lockdown is to carry on for 6 more weeks. Religious services will continue to be outlawed whatever happens, with at most 10 people allowed to attend Church services, as long as they're held outside (this is a permanent order until there's an effective vaccine). The lockdown in rural areas (most have zero transmission of the virus) will also continue with the promise that it might be reviewed in a couple of weeks.

The cops have set up mobile surveillance units, trailers with cameras fitted with face recognition, in parks and walking trails to ensure people are wearing their masks, walking in groups of no more than two and aren't outside during curfew. The checkpoints will remain around the city and the police have promised they'll continue to arrest anyone who plans resistance.

Journalists did get the government to admit that the curfews had nothing to do with public health but were enacted because the police believed it would make enforcement easier and quell civil unrest. Most of the restaurant and hospitality businesses have given up, with mass insolvency expected. The main business group has asked the Victorian government for help, not to keep the businesses open but to give some money to the owners so they can break their leases and pay off their creditors without having their homes taken from them.

Mostly the population remains compliant. The Aus Federal government are dropping tens of billions in various welfare schemes so no ones starving. Free gibs for everyone. However that's being wound back this month, and with thousands of businesses expected to permanently close severe civil unrest is likely in the coming weeks.

I have absolutely no idea what's motivating this insanity. The Victorian government are controlled by SJW leftists so I guess they're doing what they do. Plus sunk cost fallacy. 'We've put you through all this pain so we MUST eliminate the virus else what was it all for'? Until the third wave hits in the New Year, which it will.

This is insane. Fucking CHINA isn't doing this to is citizens at this point. No over the virus, anyway. Although their autocratic model of handling hte oubreak is the one western 'democracies' gleefully seized upon, one after another. I'm at the point I'm calling it The China Meme. The response to this pandemic has been modeled from day one on China's, from building unneeded shanty hospitals and locking people inside their homes on curfews, to the arrest and silencing of dissenters.

Australia - Victoria anyway - shocks me still at the militancy. I haven't been to Oz since the turn of the century, but this isn't the Australia and Australians I know. They've always been a can-do bunch with a pretty good sense of proportional risk. They live in a land which regularly explodes in flames, where most of the land is basically uninhabitable desert, where half the land fauna and most of the sea fauna can fuck you up. It's not a land that generally breeds shrinking violets. Mate of mine from there told me how in the 90s her private school swimming lessons were always in the ocean and they'd swim through colonies of stingers (jellyfish that sting you, have been stung myself and it fucking hurts and leaves weals). Being physically and mentally tough and not risk averse was an Aussie quality. Now this. WTF happened? Urban living got to them? The fact Victoria has been part of the belt and road initiative seems relevent in some way. Same wih norhern Italy, another B&R participant tha went full mental lockdown early.

Same as everywhere else. Melbourne is a strange city, it's nothing like Sydney. Think Portland or Seattle. The rural parts are more conservative but city politics are dominated by white SJWs. The population have been fed a relentless diet of fear porn for months and the economic effects of lockdown haven't kicked in yet. I'd have expected more push back from the jackboot policing, but I guess if you're compliant and don't post wrongthink on Facebook they'll leave you alone. However tens of thousands of people will be losing their jobs permanently. Up until now the government has been supporting businesses to stay open with wage support schemes, but a huge number of businesses will be closing for good. Going from 'the government will pay you until your employer can re-open' to 'sorry you now need to apply for welfare halving your income', will likely be a reality check for many.

Dr. John Campbell has been doing videos on COVID-19 since the very beginning of all of this, and now, he has more support for the hypothesis that Vitamin D deficiency closely correlates with the likelihood of suffering more severe illness.

First, Big Agribusiness sells you nutrition-free food that slowly saps your body of its vitality, and then, Big Pharma sells you expensive medication to fix the problems caused by hidden chronic malnutrition. It’s all a big scam, isn’t it? Jesus.

Not just you. I'm seeing it here, too. If you check sites like Zillow and Redfin you'll see a lot of houses popping up as well.

Christ on a bike! I know Melbourne is at the end of the world, but this is madness.

I went to Whole Foods the other day, and saw that they actually have arrows on the floor to mandate everyone walk in one direction. I'm not making this shit up...apparently walking in one direction and designating the aisles as one-way will somehow stop the spread of a fucking virus. Granted, none of the employees or security guards were enforcing it, but there was something that made me cringe in shame when I walked into the frozen foods section to get some overpriced Hot Pockets and saw a huge stop sign sticker on the floor saying "STOP: please enter from the other end of the aisle."

Yeah, it's pretty much the thing to do here in Bongland. I'm on holiday in Plymouth and a zoo I visited today has all this spray painted on the pavement and a one-way system that forces you to go nearly 10 minutes out of your way to see one animal. Ferries have posters that say "It's the law to wear a mask on this vessel", but fuck that, as I was outside on the top deck. Steam train, speaker announcements every 10 minutes "It is mandatory to wear masks in this carriage, thank you for your cooperation".

The council loves it's slogans as well, pedestrian crossings have "Leave space, stay safe" and handwash stations have "Be wise, sanitize".

Unrelated, but some artfags put this up for the Mayflower 400 year anniversary - https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/gallery/no-new-worlds-message-behind-4486476
They whine about environmental damage, but don't mention the cost of powering the LED's for their ego piece.

r/CoronavirusCircljerk is actually anti-lockdowns

This video by china uncensored is a pretty good summery of why these lockdowns are fake and gay.

I feel like the democrats are switching positions again. Why is it that a lot of them are anti-vaccine at least as far as covid-19 goes? I mean if I can avoid a shot I will but these are exactly the people who would normally shout at me to take the vaccine or I am murderer.

@Ash Gassem (Im not quoting you because the quote function is giving me issues right now) Its true that alot of places are struggling right now because of the restrictions but what I see happening is something like in the 30s where a massive black market is formed just by people trying to stay open no matter what even if it means breaking the law by not following guidelines or paying taxes.

@Bosmadden The worst part for someone like me who lives in america is talking to smug europeans online (and people who wish they were born in europe IRL) who seem convinced that america is flawed because we dont have the virus "under control" like every other democratic country. For one thing I think it is dumb to judge a individualist country like america by collective statistics like covid-19 case numbers. For another thing I think that the biggest misunderstanding about america is that democracy is its most important aspect. The bill of rights, which limits the states power is what really matters and seperates us from these "democracies" that let leaders get away with this shit.

What's next, are they gonna weld doors shut and set fire to buildings suspected of housing "super-spreaders"?
