Netflix's "Cuties" - The Preteen Sexual Objectification Equivalent of "Funny Games"

I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the clips I've seen so far have me worried about being on a list somewhere. I'm shocked that Null's letting niggas post clips of this on the site if 4chan isn't. It's gross, exploitative, and potentially is going to put these kids in a dangerous situation.
A small part of me hoped that the marketing was way off-base, which is common for foreign movies. I remember seeing an American trailer for the movie, Three Colors: Red, and it tried to present the movie as a sexy thriller when in reality the movie was neither sexy nor thrilling. Plus as other users have said here, there are ways to explore the themes in the movie without resorting to sexual exploitation of the child actors, and the trailer could have very well been cobbled together using the worst parts of the movie.

But judging from the clips here, that doesn't seem to be the case. The pieces I've seen made me feel dirty, and yet this is a movie you can legally watch on Netflix, which is probably the most insane thing about this shitshow.

"New age terrified of child sexuality."

MSM is legit trying to downplay children making themselves vulnerable to sexual predation.

Also they're supporting the premise of the film is putting children in sexual situations.
"Terrified of child sexuality" is a straight-up pro-pedo dogwhistle. Check out the statements of notorious pederasts Michel Foucault, Hakim Bey, and Allen Ginsberg. They always frame it not as oppression of them but oppression of the child by a puritanical society threatened by the notion that a child can be sexual. Apparently, it doesn't come to them that it's just a projection of their own sick egos. I was a child once: my main priorities were Pokemon and DBZ, not embracing my sexuality by fucking a dirty old man.

The mainstream media trying to downplay overt pedophilia is nothing new, it's just getting more brazen over time. Also @granyonyi stakan the reason it could get Null into hot water and not Netflix is because the rules don't apply equally. Assuming that the Kiwi Farms could withstand the same brunt of legal attacks that Netflix could is unreasonable, and I don't think that giving insane people who routinely try to destroy this place a convenient place to shove their foot in the door is a good idea.

Tbf, Lolita was a book first, but I see where you’re going-and I agree

I've read the book and seen the movie. I'll defend the book (which is not erotic) but I think it's unfilmable.

Kubrick did some of my favorite films but I thought that one failed pretty badly.

I don't know Nabokov, but I really think the book is about a charming, incredibly evil man and the intention is to force the reader to realize that he is evil, no matter how charming, witty, and clever he is. It's about reading between the lines and noticing that Lolita does almost everything a 12 year old girl could plausibly do to get away from him, and that the narrator is spinning the facts frantically. Completely lost in the film.

well strategically speaking if the content of netflix's show shuts down other websites then that is a good base to argue that netflix should be held to the same standards. And if netflix can keep it up because the PC Police like it then i don't see why they would despise us for having it. Not that we actually want that shit anyway.

This shit is only coming off when those accounts start getting canceled. Companies are only motivated by their profits.

This doesn't matter, either most or all the dislikes are from people who didn't watch it, I'm willing to bet all my money on it.
This is genuine cancel culture at work.

there are only two types of votes that work; bullets and dollars. as long as neither are being used this is going nowhere.

i can't believe i keep seeing people say you have to watch this depravity to "get it" and accurately judge it. you should be shot on the spot if you can legitimately make it through an hour and a half of eleven year olds dancing in a sexual manner.
Question:
How do you know it's 1 hour and a half of 11 year olds dancing in a sexual manner?
Seriously, how do you know?
So far, I'm seeing people getting offended by 1 Netflix poster not made by anybody who made the movie.
You genuinely don't know what this movie is or isn't.

Are you just intentionally avoiding all of the clips in the show? I mean, I don't blame you but the dancing scene is actually in this thread, and I've personally seen the clip of the scene where a kid yanked her pants and underpants down and took a picture of her privates before uploading it onto her phone. It is 100% not just the poster, we have gone well beyond it just being a poster, the movie is filled with extremely provocative scenes and I struggle to understand how it doesn't fall under this definition:

Ok so I'm bored as fuck and watching it so you guys don't have to.

I'm like twenty minutes in and the vibe I'm getting right now is Muslim Precious. Basically the protagonist is eleven and lives with her extremely strict and religious mother in a shitty housing project in France. her aunt who she's much closer to is more westernized and encourages her to defy her mother.

No degeneracy yet, Edit: nvm there's loli titty as she sits in the bath. I'm right at the part where she meets the black girl who introduces her to the booty crew.

Apparently not wanting to see kids sexuallized is a right-wing thing?
I'm not even sure how to express how surreal it feels to see them actually doing this.
Sure we knew it was coming but deep down it still seemed too absurd to be true.

I guess it shouldn't be that much of a surprise since it's nothing new and the pedo-apologism comes in cycles but it seemed like this movie made too big of a stink for them to go through with it this time.

This will definitely play on a KF Movie Night at some point so I'll wait for that.
If it's smut then it is but I rather see for myself, in full context.

Bless you for taking one for the team. I've seen the main clips people talk about and I feel like those alone are enough for me to judge it. I guess they try to ease you in to the movie before delving into everything.

I just don't see why smush preteens and twerking together when you have other options. Preteens and dance could work. Sure, to some people all dancing might be "sexual" because it involves moving your body but for most people there are tons of dance genres that are pg. Ballet, tap, some hip hop, swing, lots of cultural dances that I'm sure exist in France. Sure, those aren't "cool or hip" like twerking but dangit that's not the point. And if you wanted a coming of age story with twerking, why not just make them 18/young adults? That would work just fine. But no, they had to pick the worst combo ever.

No one in my social circle has brought this film up so I don't know if any of them even know about it. I hope they don't. I just remembered this came out from being on the farms. It's as bad as I thought.

Screenshots I took of the Metacritic user reviews page as the score plummets in real time (archive link)

Seems to be frozen at 57 reviews right now for me locally, but the archive page sees a different count

edit: 6 negative reviews were axed in the last 10 minutes as you can see on the archive page

And, to the surprise of absolutely nobody, the backlash has begun. Frankly, criticizing it as Islamophobic is a better way to go in this situation, especially if you're discussing this with leftists. (Especially because it has scenes where the protagonist's mother beats her for her immodesty.)

Also, it's banned in Turkey now:
