🐱 Netflix Movie 'Cuties' Could Be Investigated For Violations Of Child Exploitation Laws

Texas lawmaker has called for the Netflix film Cuties to be investigated for possible violations of child exploitation and child pornography following uproar over a poster that sexualizes the young actors—but the film's creator says the film itself has been misinterpreted.

Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, Matt Schaefer has asked the state's attorney general to conduct an investigation.

Schaefer announced his plans on twitter amid calls to "cancel Netflix" which began trending on the site.

"I have asked Texas Attorney General Paxton's office to investigate the @netflix film Cuties for possible violations of child exploitation and child pornography laws. #CUTIES#txlege," he tweeted.

Titled Mignonnes in French, the film sparked hundreds of thousands of calls to #CancelNetflix on Twitter this week, following its release this week.

Netflix's promotional poster for the movie sparked intense backlash last month for showing the child actors wearing revealing dance attire of shorts and crop tops and striking various dance poses, like kneeling on the floor and squatting.

Look at how MovieBob froths at the mouth at the prospect that Netflix will be investigated for child porn.

You know I like the downplay of the newsweek article.

"Netflix's promotional poster for the movie sparked intense backlash last month for showing the child actors wearing revealing dance attire of shorts and crop tops and striking various dance poses, like kneeling on the floor and squatting."

It's not the fact they're showing the little girls titties, or making the girls taking vag pics, or the twerking, they're just squatting and dancing! These silly faux-outrage Republicans I tell ya!

The director auditioned 700 girls to find the lead actress. How many hours of footage of preteen girls twerking were they able to sell to pedos before they even made the movie?

I mean, is this possible? the film was made in France. IIRC, the film was made with a grant from the French government. Netflix is just distributing it. I'm pretty sure France is ok with this shit. The government is not going to seriously look into abuse allegations for a film they themselves had its hand in producing.

I'm not against an investigation, but what this guy in Texas is doing is virtue signaling to the right. Not bad, since his heart is in the right place. But America shouldn't, and isn't, going to start up the World Policing again over a movie. What this Rep is suggesting is the equivalent to some politician in France asking for an investigiation into that incident where that guy got shot over a mattress in an alley in Texas.

If anything this might force Netflix to become stricter about what gets shown on their platform and they will probably just ban the movie being shown in the US entirely.

Glad you actually watched the movie and are not just talking out of your ass because of American Netflix's poster.
im sure the directors that auditioned hundreds of little girl twerking isnt a fucking pedophile. right ...

Also why would i fucking watch this trash. I got a 1 min clip of 10 year old girls twerking on twitter. I dont need to see more to be disgusted.

You don't need to visit a landfill to know it smells like shit.

Not to be pedantic but does Texas have jurisdiction over this movie? It’s a French film being broadcast on a Californian video service. Can Texas choose to selectively ban a movie in its own boarders? It certainly doesn’t have jurisdiction to interview the producers/directors/actors right?

Why is he so vehemently defending children performing lewd acts? Like why is this your hill to die on

Well we did hear Dear Feeder's educated opinion on the trailer alone, and if you look at reviews stating what's being depicted I'm sure this violates child exploitation laws due to it, you know, being absolutely vulgar.

Not to be pedantic but does Texas have jurisdiction over this movie?
Maybe? Considering the subject matter I'd wager it could be elevated.
