"Anti-feminist"
My Nigguillaume, what?
I'll fucking allow her the transphobic part, I can twist my brain enough to make it make sense, but in what sense does saying "our child is this gender! Have some cake!" anti-feminist? What if the baby's a female?

If we're being VEEEEEEERY generous, maybe she meant that it relies on gender stereotypes like blue explosions = boy pink unicorns = girl?

Probably yeah. Trans really marked theirselves towards feminists by saying that they are breaking stereotypes but at same time are all about stereotypes when it's why they aren't their biological sex and why they really are their chosen gender. Absolutely lovely double think.

Also this fire starting from a gender reveal party doesn't mean gender reveal parties are bad. There is nothing inherently dangerous telling what gender the baby is going to be in a party from fire safety stand point doing. Nothing says you have to use explosives to do the reveal, actually cakes are much more common as the expense goes towards feeding the guests too. If cakes aren't your thing I have seen people using balloons, dolls and simple envelopes for reveal. I think these parties are bit cringe worthy but harmless fun and at best can help rest of the family feel more connected to the new baby when they get to find out the gender together.

And yet in an effort to avoid terming your child a boy or a girl, you end up referring to their genitals. I will never forget the screenshot of an fb post I saw where the mother termed their daughter "my three-year old vulva-haver".

Edit: I can't find it but here is another one. Apparently this phenomenon is mildly infamous on the farms so apologies if this has been posted in this thread before.

I believe there is a lot to be said in favour of raising children in a GNC-friendly environment, but even my hippy ass isn't going to call my children by their genitals. Disgusting sexualisation of kids. Poor kid is probably gonna grow up thinking her first name is Vulva.
Thank you! I referenced this in a post ages ago but explained there was no way I was going to put that into my search engine to find it.

Throwing a party to celebrate something that hasn't happened seems like a bad idea. Suppose the fetus dies. Congratulations on throwing a giant party beforehand.

Promotion of transgenderism is a feminist cause, like anti-colonialism, fat acceptance, elimination of toxic masculinity, diversity and so on.

But then you didn't have memories of fun party or the baby so double loss. It's perfectly normal to celebrate something that you are working towards when get to a mile stone. By the time the baby is old enough to tell the pregnantcy is already so far that miscarriage is unlikely and not that huge risk. Also baby showers are very common thing, way more common than gender reveal parties and they are celebrated well before birth too. Actually many have gender reveal as part of more traditional baby showers.

Baby showers themselves seem like a way of spitting in the eye of providence. I'm not superstitious, as such, but it seems if it is even remotely possible to invite bad luck, that would be it.

Oh boy, I love this game.

Being trans, but keeping quiet about it and not demanding that everyone bows before your girldick in the women’s restroom.

Being gay, but not suing a business because someone you don’t like won’t make you a cake after you shopped around for someone who would refuse.

A person with strong opinions, but they don’t try to silence people who don’t agree with them.

Labelle, but not fat.
