i think largely issue is that anything relating to child sex trafficking, the media now files under the QAnon/Pizzagate moniker. Now they have a group they can label, and can pick out the most schizophrenic, and say. "See they are all crazy" despite QAnon/Pizzagate basing many, but not all, of their theories on actual evidence, that usually predates QAnon even existing.

I make very little money right now but I made sure to save a little of what I make. It helps. I'd like to try getting into stonks sometime but I still know very little of how it works.

If your company has a 401k plan and any kind of match, start there since it's "free" money. Pick either the whole market fund with a low fee, or one of the "target date" funds that adjusts your equity/bond exposure as you age. If you don't have a 401k, open an IRA so you get that tax break.

In either case, hop on the Bogleheads forums and find one of the "how to get started" threads. They'll push you to a tried and true, buy and hold, slow and steady approach that has given millions financial freedom. and quickly disabuse you of any wacky, creative, impulsive decisions that'll cost you. Stay the course.

you have to invest a lot of time and effort to make it work really well, but there's some automated trading programs out there that can help smooth things over. before you go into it i'd strongly recommend plenty of research and talking with a financial advisor. and slow but steady growth is always a better plan over trying to find the next "google in 1998"

Don't do the first half of this. You're going up against some of the best-resourced professionals on earth who do this full time.

The deputies, one male and one female, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and are in critical condition after being ambushed as they sat in their patrol vehicle, the department said on Twitter. Both are currently undergoing surgery, officials say.

When I think of community policing this is one of a scenarios almost exactly that pop into my head: proactively protecting a vulnerable community with your neighbors where enforcement vacuums exist due to the more remote nature of the community. The people involved have a stake in what they protect and especially in times like this where the cops are stretched thin this kind of action is absolutely necessary.

This sounds like the neighborhood watches that used to be popular in the late 80s and 90s before many neighborhoods started having less long-term residents and more rental properties. To a lesser extent, it also sounds akin to the Guardian Angels who often came to cities where law enforcement was stretched too thin and helped fill the gaps by being a visible presence and eyes/ears.

Still, neighbors that know each other have a vested interest in having each others' backs because they have the best idea of who or what seems unusual enough in their neighborhoods to be suspicious. It's a shame that there's not as much organized efforts as there once was, but informal efforts aren't a bad thing, either.

The thing is, when I was young "community policing" meant things like officers getting to know the people of the area, and building rapport with them and the community at large. It meant using more discretion on smaller things to build ties between the community and the police. It encouraged things like a police version of a fire station's open house. Sure police are not your friends when it comes to interactions with them, but at the same time, there should be a level of trust that you can go to them when shit hits the fan.

Perhaps the term you're thinking of, @stupidpieceofshit, is community relations. Sadly, budget cuts over the years usually meant this was one of the first items on the chopping block in the name of having as many officers on patrol as much as possible. Still, community relations happen in some areas albeit on a smaller scale so that officers can get to know the regulars in their patrol area and residents can be kept up to date with any issues or items they need to know. Neighborhood residents, parents and families -- especially those with younger children -- often appreciate being kept in the loop, especially with regards to creepers that might be trying to prey on the neighborhood's kids.

I don't know if its a genetic thing (grandfathers being handymen/woodworkers), or how I was raised, or a touch of tism but I always want to try to fix my things before throwing them out (even if its a half-assed red green show tier job).

Maybe it's part genetic and equal parts common sense (when it exists) and practicality. I have similar attitudes in trying to keep my own car maintained as best I can to get the most life out of it before I need another one once it becomes too costly or impractical to keep it running. Also, I recently tried to address the whining fan on my PC's power supply by re-oiling it before learning the supply as a whole is starting to fail and needs to be replaced because it's wattage is inadequate for the PC's current configuration.

Unfortunately, we live in a throwaway world where it's become easier to junk objects and get new ones than it is to maintain older ones. Granted, some of this is because companies make it as expensive and unappealing as possible to get replacement parts and perform DIY repairs, but people still have the "screw it and junk it" mentality even when a low or no-cost maintenance alternative exists.

What pisses me off the most about this clip is the lispy faggot saying that they came to a town that doesn't think it's racist. You...came to a town? You don't actually live there? No fucking wonder the locals show up with guns. If a bunch of trashy white liberals came to my town from their parents' basement to protest it, I'd be watching with a gun, too.

Even though it's a short clip, the gun-possessing residents keep their guns holstered/shouldered the whole time and didn't brandish them or show poor control with their firearms. I get that some people simply dislike guns enough (for whatever reason) to be skittish around them. However, the videographer seems to be looking for any reason to bounce and squeak over people -- residents that actually live in the city in this case -- legally and properly carrying their weapons while keeping an eye on outsiders going through their city.

If the videographer and their friends are that freaked out over legally-carrying residents, perhaps they should reconsider what cities they randomly chose to visit when their behavior makes it clear that their obvious outsiders. People going through a city for legitimate reasons usually don't allow themselves to be intimidated as easily as they were.
