a mask doesn't protect healthy people from other healthy peopleEven CNN watchers seem to understand that non-n95 masks don't actually protect you, it's all about "protecting others".

I don't have much doubt that the dude was a real census worker. The root problem was he was very dumb. When I finally told him to get the fuck off my property he replied "I'm not on your property". That was in my yard, less than 5 feet from my front door. That made it clear that we'd left the path of reason, so I gave myself permission to lay hands on him, and now I'm being charged with assault.A little off-topic and a little powerlevel, but I did some census work this year. The training was very clear on how you're supposed to handle yourself on the job: always be polite and respectful, don't be overly pushy (asking people if they're sure they don't want to do the questionnaire is fine, but continuing to do so is a no-go), and if someone asks you to leave, you leave. Census workers do have a legal right to be on your property to do their work, but antagonizing the respondent by refusing to leave is counterproductive. It helps that I live in a fairly laidback area, but I didn't have too many issues overall. Most people were polite enough, some were a little standoffish, and I had a couple people threaten to call the cops on me. I'm just glad I don't live anywhere that riots are going on; I know I wouldn't answer my door to a random stranger if Antifa was threatening my neighborhood.
For reference, the standard protocol for a census worker is to say their name and that they work for the Census Bureau, show their badge, and explain that they're there to complete a census questionnaire. If that guy didn't have a badge identifying him as a census worker, then he might have been posing as one. If he did and he was trying to get you to fill out an unrelated survey, then you would have been within your rights to call the police and get him removed from your property because he would not have been there on official census business. Probably not the best idea to assault him, but maybe he'll think twice about pulling some dumb shit like that next time.
Doing census work also convinced me of a couple things:
- Based on how many people didn't do the census, even with how easy they made it this year, it doesn't matter how easy you make it to vote. There's going to be an overwhelming majority of people that just don't give a fuck. If millions of people can't be fucked to answer a ten-minute questionnaire every ten years, what makes you think they'll bother with voting if you mail them a ballot? All you'll get is more voter fraud and no way of knowing if an election is legitimate ever again.
- The lawsuits that are being filed to force the census to continue through October because Drumpf hates minorities are fucking retarded. If anything, it's minorities' own unwillingness to respond that's going to prevent them from being counted. You don't need a racist-in-chief to make black people distrustful of someone from the government coming around their door, trust me.
- Whoever decided to force census workers to wear masks outside in the summer should be forced to sit outside in the sun all day with a mask on and realize how awful that is.
I think census workers are granted special indulgences, like utility workers, so "get off my property" may not work for me.Couldn't you record the encounter and issue the guy a trespass notice?
Any cell phone camera from the last decade has better resolution than these fucking body cams.
And there it is, he turned out to be a grown-ass man and repeat violent offender that got shot mid-charge, and he's (probably) not even black. Can they all go home now?
Isn't that the same platform homeschooling advocates have? Avoid indoctrination?
I was thinking the same, it's perfectly memeable.
Their whole plot is 97ac. My brothers place is about that and he gets by with an tired old 9000 series ford, an undead DYNA-HOE 190, and a few junkyard refugee 1ton trucks. Small places like that where worked with oxen.Ran a xmas tree farm for a couple years. 220 acres. Much of it overgrown shit that needed clearing. We got on just fine with a couple 1948 Case S series "Pumpkin"tractors and a 1972 David Brown 990 for the heavy work (like pulling the Pumpkins out of the swamp.
They know what they're doing. It's just an excuse at this point.Yep, exactly what everyone expected. Good job BLM.
