There's no reason she couldn't just have a live2d model. Lying and social climbing are par for the streaming course, anime girl or not, but Pokimane has so much public baggage in the stream-o-sphere that reinventing herself is impossible and this is just chasing a trend. I mean imagine if DrDisrespect decided to come back as a vtuber. She's not being gatekept so much as she slammed that gate shut years ago.

I feel bad that some people think she's personally responsible; none of the talent should be catching flak for this. Blame God for only putting 24 hours in a day, I guess.

I said this in the Breadtube thread, but this strawman is insane and in his second tweet he is literally making shit up because no politics talk is a rule in vtubing, it's all just anime girls and anime boys (mostly the former) playing video games or just talking and interacting with their audience. I think the closest thing he may refer to the "angry reactions" from those evil toxic chuds is them possibly finding out that a lot of vtubers are open about their sexual deviancy and degeneracy, but from all of my interactions from people who also watch vtubers and whom Shaun would call ebil gnatzees, they all know that it's part of the deal with those vtubers. Like there's one racist skinhead listening to Skrewdriver somewhere right now who's about to demolish his apartment in rage because he suddenly found out that Tsukino Mito is a massive degenerate or that Hoshimachi "I'm Not a Shotacon" Suisei is into shota. I don't see any vtuber screeching about muh trans rights or instituting drag queen story hour into Japan, let alone mentioning it in passing.
Second of all strawmans, I don't know anyone who watches them just to listen to some weird moonspeak they don't understand. I remember the first time I found out about a sizable chunk of vtuber audience being people who don't speak Japanese from a friend of mine who is in that group of people, and I asked him what the hell the appeal is to people like him. Then he just showed me hundreds of translated clips that people watch to understand what was said, and if they didn't wanna do that they'd just watch vtubers who spoke English and hosted English-only streams from time to time. The huge popularity that Hololive's English branch is enjoying right now is proof of that. Overseas fans want to understand what the weird anime girls are saying, because the whole appeal of vtubers is their personality.
