Pretty much what I think as well. She has enough money to live the rest of her days without worry, while most of her haters are most likely going to be less than unfortunate. She also has a legacy that will live on for a very long time. Can't really imagine anyone being able to discredit her for writing and creating her own series.

But this book does sound completely left field from somebody like J.K. Probably got tired of reading hate on her twitter feed and decided its high time to go out with a bang instead of whimpering to the haters.

Anyone up to do a reading group for this? Might be fun to pass the time.

Edit: just found out its 900 fucking pages. She definitely got paid by the numbers.

This is such a brainless idea, it's terrifying to see people parrot it on any occasion when victimisation is questioned. The theory is basically to disengage your critical thinking and blindly accept what someone else tells you. You are wrong for no other reason than you are not them, and this fact means that understanding will always be beyond you.

And now it's not even the oppressors themselves telling you to shut up, it's some zombie who would proudly admit he couldn't hope to understand either. The idea is an insult to the human capacity to reason. It's literally unreasonable. I also read some self-policing of thought in that tweet too, like he is dangerously close to agreeing with verboten ideas and needs to stop the perpetrator.

We are least rational about the subjects closest to our hearts. Unless you know well what you're doing and thinking, step back from discussions which are strongly tied to your own emotions. Bringing your own shit into the mix makes it impossible to be open minded and puts an unfair weight onto others who are sharing their thoughts on the value of the thoughts alone.

If I wanted an honest reflection on transphobia I think the ideal person is someone who has no connection to the ideology and is capable of intelligent and fair-minded analysis. The last person to listen to is the person who has made being a hysterical victim a cornerstone of their identity, I think you can safely ignore their testimony as fatally tainted.

And yet we are supposed to accept that the reverse is now what we must do. Want to know the reality of racism? Ask a race-obsessive who sees every interaction through a racial lens. Want a unified theory about women, a group so large and disparate it is essentially meaningless to regard as one voice? Ask whoever is most aggrieved and emotional about being a woman and only listen to them. It's such lightweight bullshit, it can only take hold in a mind which has been completely forbidden from having its own thoughts.
