Fanmade Pokémon Designs (Fakemon) - Tracers, garbage designers, and of course, furries

More fakes from Startboii's latin-american region that he occasionally mentions on his Instagram.
View attachment 1597878
The mango bat fakemon looks really uninspired compared to its evolution. It's just a mango with some wings, and doesn't resemble the evolution very well. I get from the little doodle next to it, it's supposed to cultivate on it, similar to Dreepy, but it's not executed well here. The Mr. Mime is traced directly from Galarian Mr. Mime, which doesn't help form it's own identity. The avocado Applin and Appletun is pretty cool, though.
View attachment 1597879
The stick bug sort of confuses me. What's that cloud there supposed to be? Also, the fly fake, while it looks nice, is just a Wishiwashi clone except less clever. Flies don't tend to gather up in huge groups like that, and the wings don't look like a whole group of flies is forming the shape of it. The pinata form for Slurpuff is also a little uninspired, and probably would be better off it's own thing.
Also, is the dream catcher supposed to be Klefki?

There are some ok ideas there but the executions are boring and lame. I dont get the bat evolution? It seems to be a Megabat/ flying fox but i dont think those are south american? The ostrich is problame an ema (Rhea) bird and that mr mime is literally chapulin colorado, a popular joke hero. It's actually SO similar it's almost offensive.

1600201209652.png
(why mr mime? why not a bug pokemon?)

The mosquito looks too similar aedes aegypt aka "The dengue mosquito". I dont understand how that's a wishi washi school form? It's not known for clouds.

1600201443760.png

The bird is just the blue macaw from the Rio movie and that yamask is an indiana jones crystal skull reference? I dont know, the regional variants are predictable and the originals have rather weak designs. Well, i guess tracers are not known for their originality anyway...

Going to compile (almost) every sketch of the region he has done so far.

This was posted earlier, though I felt we should cover the whole Latin American region, since Startboii doesn't post a whole lot about it besides the starters, though then again he could be setting a whole new Instagram up as we speak. It feels as if there's more regional forms than actual new pokemon. Like seriously, I think there may be a bit too much regional forms.
For example, why would Maractus need a regional form or evolution? It is a cactus, and as such, it would already be equipped with anything it needs to survive in the desert parts of the region. Same goes for the Cacnea evolution. Aromatisse looks fine I suppose, but the evolution is a little... odd? Aromatisse is loosely based off of a plague doctor, and yet here it's sort of an afterthought.

Already commented on Latarian Machamp's skintone, but it always cracks me up for some reason. He could've gone with a darker grey but a chocolate-colored Machamp was something we all needed in our life, apparently.

Screenshot (2091).png

Forgot to mention: This is Latarian Hatterene. Considering the sheer number of Latarian forms we're getting, and from how seperate enough it looks as a design, I feel it should just be it's own thing. The rest of the designs here seem fairly standard, I suppose? Dunno, you tell me.
Screenshot (2092).png

You might have noticed that I called every regional form "latarian". This is why; The region is called Latar. Not much to comment on, looks pretty good for a fanmade region.
Screenshot (2093).png

Early concept art for starters. Not going to lie, I like these a bit more.
Screenshot (2095).png

Chupacabra fake. Judging from the concept art, it seems pretty similar to Cramorant in that both carry around a pokemon in their mouths that they spit at their opponents.
Screenshot (2096).png

Already commented on that hippo a few pages ago. The lobster is actually really neat, wonder what it'll evolve into. The eeveelution is overdesigned. If weren't a eeveelution, it would be fine, but I can't tell what type it's supposed to be, something that for a eeveelution, is bad. If you can't tell what type it is just from looking at it, it's a bad eeveelution. I don't get giving Hawlucha a Latarian form if it's literally inspired by a luchador, which is Mexican in origin. I assume the food-like Pokemon is supposed to be a cutesy little king, which I appreciate the addition of a more "masculine" cutesy pokemon. The Gothorita is actually kind of cute, though as mentioned earlier, the pink color is a little too close to her skin color, so maybe I'd darken it a little. Could just be me, though.
Screenshot (2097).png

That moth's(?) design is kind of cluttered. The Mango bat is also back, and it apparently has another form it evolves into... And it goes from a mango to a watermelon?
Okay...? Also, that soccerball pokemon is bound to be punted to shit by a Cinderace.
Screenshot (2098).png

More early starter concept art, as well as the region's very own pikaclone! Also, the Latar region's very own professor, Betty. Her design seems more fitting to an assistant, but maybe the concept of a professor that's some kind of prodigy instead of an old man or young adult might be interesting.

And finally, I saved the best for last.

Aaaand this is how you instantly invalidate your Pokémon Region concept. This would become dated and tasteless in a matter of a few years if the intention is to make it as official-looking as possible (something that, hello, not even UNOVA has done despite being based off the United States?).

>Trump is the big bad
It actually had some potential up to there, but that is - and I rarely use this word - beyond fucking retarded. I thought this project was to celebrate latin american culture, or to make a cool new region or something, but I'm starting to think it's just a weird political statement. There are so many problems facing latin america, or that had a big impact on its history, that you can draw inspiration from. Colonialism, cartels, corrupt fruit companies, puppet dictators (courtesy of Uncle Sam), communist insurgencies, but no. Fucking ORANGE BOOMER is what sticks out them the most? It only affects one country, and just the border. They don't even know how to be subtle about it, either...
The flying-squirrel paratrooper is still fucking awesome though, too bad it's stuck in such a shit project.

The professor isn't too bad, just the name 'Betty' really doesn't work for me. It doesn't match the theme of all the actual pokemon games having professors named after trees/plants. Missed opportunity to name her after a common plant of the country, especially one with literally thousands to choose from.

Yeah, I was going to comment on that, but I've seen worse looking fan-made professors out there, that and there were a lot of concept sketches to go through. The real pokemon designs are so bad I can't differentiate them from fakemon.

If you wanted to pull that card, you should've at least picked the majority of Gen 8. God what a trashfire.

I think they're post-game.

I think there's something post-game but I'm kind of disappointed they didn't seem to keep any of the Nexomon from the first game. It seems like they have some good ideas and some filler. I lost interest in the first game pretty quickly, but Extinction is good with lots of room for improvement.
One thing I will give Nexomon is that the plot is kind of interesting, maybe even a bit unique for a mons game. Basically every Nexomon originates from a single evil Nexomon named Omnimon, the king of monsters who came from a different dimension and wanted to wipe out humanity by using Nexomon, but humans tamed Nexomon to fight back, sealing him away.
The twist is every Nexomon is inherently "evil" (ie predisposed to listen to Omnimon only) and will betray humans, so living in peace together and letting them bred to be a mon world was actually a trap to fuck humans over in the long run. Omnimon also has like several direct nexomon children that can TF into humans intending to bring him back that you beat throughout the game, and ultimately the only reason you, the player beat the revived Omnimon is because one of his nexomon children betrayed him as she believes in a world where humans and nexomon can live in peace together so your nexos don't turn on you. I also thought the "Extinction" title was edgy, but you actually perma-kill Omnimon at the end of the ios game, and doing so means that Nexomon will become extinct due to not having Omnimon's power(?) around anymore, leading to the sequel.

What's wrong with Dracovish? I think it's really neat that they're poking fun at all of the "fake dinosaurs" made of misassembled or mix-and-matched fossils. It's a unique idea with some really creative designs, to balance out some of the less creative slightly-modified-dinosaur fossilmons

Because it is a joke i don't find funny, i'm still salty that the closest we have ever got to a Dunkleosteus pokemon was that missmatched thing, i hope they drop the joke in the next gen.

She's named betty because that's literally "Ugly Betty" from a massively popular colombian soap opera.

I think it is part ghost because that Pokemon is most likely based on the vaquita marina

The vaquita is a critically endangered especies, to the point i think i've read somewhere that their population is so low to the point that their extinction is inevitable, so Delchanted being part ghost makes sense to me

The pokemon is obviously based on the boto-cor-de-rosa like i said tho. Lets ignore the fact that it's a latin american inspired pink dolphin for one second, the pokedex description is straight up ripped from the folklore's tale.

The part where the dex says "hides blowhole with a hat made of bubbles" is a hard reference to how their human disguises work. They say that if you take their hat and expose their blowhole, they will morph back into a dolphin. It's human form is 99% of the time depicted as a casanova wearing a white or pink suit and a hat.

Besides, Delchant has a pointy nose/mouth so i dont understand how it's similar to the vaquita (round head and mouth) at all?

Either way, it's not an extinct, not haunted, not a spirit and not an inanimate object so it shouldnt be ghost type. It seems to be like a "normal" slightly humanoid fish, at best it should be water/fairy.

I assume the creator typed it ghost because "it's magical so it's a ghost" or because they misunderstood hard and thought this is a creepy "horror story" about a monster fish raping and drowning innocent women.
