Diseased Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

With Linus #canceled, this is the new face of Linux:

People still use Firefox? Firefox was a piece of shit 10 years ago, I can't imagine how shitty it is now.

Open source stuff has historically sucked and now that the contributors care more about being woke than writing good code, it will only get worse.
I think the Mozilla rendering engine is still top-notch and the developer tools are pretty great too - I like how it easily lets you set breakpoints on different expressions within a line instead of just on the whole line. But the browser itself still does stupid shit like push Pocket in your face. Waterfox is a good alternative; it's downstream from Firefox and strips out much of the unnecessary nonsense (though not all of it… it's themeable, for example. I thought we were over that nonsense).

Soon there will be only Chrome, which also has a lot to do with google abusing their monopoly to keep other people's shit from working right with their "vision of the web". That whole industry is so fucking superflous and basically creating busywork for itself. A program that displays text and pictures and maybe videos from some internet server simply does not need to be this complicated, yet here we are.

Chrome sucks, but unfortunately it's the best of the bunch

I used Waterfox until it was sold earlier this year. Using plain Firefox with a custom user.js file allows you to disable all of the tracking and "features" like Pocket.

I stick with Brave mostly on mobile, although the extension enabled version of ungoogled-chromium has been performing well in my recent tests of it.

Vivaldi good. It idles at ~100 mb memory and has a million actually useful productivity features like this;

Tab stacking is a fantastic organizational feature, and tab hibernation allows you to keep a bunch of tabs open without having to actually load the pages. Personally I just use it to keep track of music I want to someday listen to

Also I need to post that morality pills thing to a&h someday lol nvm late

Last I checked Vivaldi could also display tabs vertically, which Chrome can't without a retarded workaround. Firefox can do that too, and better, with Tree Style Tab, which is one of the the only remaining reasons why I'm still using that piece of shit of a browser. I can't wait for the incompetent shitheads at Mozilla to ruin that as well.

Vivaldi got equivalent functionality to that addon recently

Pretty useful stuff, gives you a nice overview. You can also stick your actual tabs on the side too if you really want

Vivaldi is my browser of choice for lightweight shitposting, barely has an impact on my computer's resources and plenty of customization as well as neat features. I duly recommend it.

I alternate between edge and brave though it took a while to dump chrome. Google probably has access to every porn video and fetish that I have searched for. I also have the Google mini alexa thing at home.

Is switching out from chrome to brave easy? Doesn it maintain all my settings and extension settings? I have a really autistically customized extension setup.

bringing a bunch of shit over makes it easy for google or third-parties to track your migration. if you did it all yourself, it won't be a problem but then you should have no problem with the migration on your own.

I've been testing Vivaldi for the past few weeks. It's very snappy and I like the built-in features, but it still uses the same amount of RAM as Chrome, if not more. Since it's running on Chromium, that's not really surprising.

I'm still not sure whether I really like it, though. I'll see how I feel when I hit two months using it.

That's one of my must-have addons. But then, I still want to play flash games on occasion so I'm hardly the intended audience for any browser, far as I can tell.

Does the Sea Hag responsible for the CoC have anything to do with Firefox now, or is it just her general heinousness is spreading? Because I won't use anything she's infected.
