I was honestly expecting something like this, given how constantly and wastefully Richard spends and the fact that his income went completely down the shitter. The staff on SA are making a point of handing out various paid services for free simply on account of spite for Richard. Wonder how long it’s been since Richart got paid.

How the hell would Ashley have money when Richard ensured she wasn’t able to legally work in the USA for their entire marriage and even tried to deprive her of charity? Even if she managed to get some temporary work visa (very doubtful, esp given corona but it’s slow af no matter what) she wouldn’t be landing any job that would pay enough to afford lawyer and GAL fees.

Income from SA was estimated to be near $3 or 4K in profit monthly but that won’t cover rent, car expense, medical insurance, back tax payments and child support, . Basically SA was probably not even covering his monthly expenses thanks to his endless doctor shopping and medical bills. (If he wasn’t an addict he could probably easily live on SA income even with it bringing in far less than years ago.

A drug habit will make millionaire go broke, it’s the main reason Lowtax is flat broke now. Even with his stupidity, tax avoidance and excess spending he could have lived on the SA income and had money saved if he hadn’t got a monkey on his back.

She changed lawyers to a private attorney named Erin Mayfield-Craig in like late July/nearly August. I suspect this is a Gambit to see where the money to pay her is coming from, as far as I know Ashley can't legally work in the US still.

How likely is it that her lawyer is representing her pro-bono? The story of "captive immigrant woman and child rescued by previous wife of abusive drug addict" sounds like it might attract a lawyer willing to help just because of how ridiculous the entire thing is.

The fact that he doesn't shut down a thread where janitors are giving out paid forum shit in exchange for RAINN donations has me thinking that there might be an actual deal in the works. I also think they would have done a fake hand off by now if that was the deal. The thread has a dozen pages and could have cost him several thousand in income. Losing money is something which would actually get him off his ass. I'm inclined to agree with @waffle that this is some kind of fishing expedition along with trying to get out of legal bills because anything spent on legal proceedings can't be spent on oxy and franzia. It may be at the request of Momtax as well if his parents are the one's bankrolling proceedings.

It's also worth remembering as well that controlling Ashley's money has been a method of abuse Rich uses. Momtax used Ashley's citizenship status to abuse her as well. I doubt Rich is happy that Ashley is out of a shelter and has either some source of income or someone willing to bankroll a private attorney. I seriously doubt it's pro bono, but it could be at some reduced rate. Craig is a family/domestic law attorney and may have a relationship with DV shelters and NGOs in the area.

Ryan Laudermilk does not appear to be listed among LAWMO's staff anymore, but he was on their 2019 annual report among the legal aid staff at their central office in Kansas City. My suspicion is that when calls were made by the LSPD to set up Ashli with legal assistance, they wound up getting her in touch with LAWMO.

Erin Mayfield Craig is not on that annual report, but she was on LAWMO's 2016 annual report under the Volunteer Attorney Project listings. Additionally, Dana Outlaw is on that list every single year and Richart is on that list in the 2015 report.

Dana Outlaw has been particularly active in this case and even aggressive. I really think she has it in for Richard personally. He has a way of bringing that out in people. I wouldn't be surprised if she's made it a mission to see that this goes as well as it can. And if what @waffle says can be credited, the judge is the sort who will go along with her. She seems like an alpha bitch of a lawyer, intended in the most complimentary sense.

I don't know if Ryan left legal aid or not, I don't really do family law and my interactions with these people is mostly on domestic violence restraining orders - so they are not the people I see every day. What I do know is that if Erin does Volunteer Attorney project stuff that could be how she wound up representing Ashley.

Jackson County is too cheap to pay people to represent the indigent when DCFS is trying to take their kids, so they just draw the names of random attorneys who practice in the county and forcibly appoint them to represent people for free in family court. This is, of course a terrible system that only satisfies the county legislature that is too cheap to do it right. This has, somehow, been upheld as constitutional by the state courts. One of the reasons is that if you sign up for the "volunteer" attorney project with legal aid and do at least one case a year for free they take your name out of the hat.

Missouri is not at all unique in this. Yes, lawyers are literally sometimes just forcibly appointed to represent some guy by the judge, out of the blue. At least Missouri apparently has some lottery system for this kind of thing. And yes, it has been upheld as constitutional against challenges under the Thirteenth Amendment (literal slavery) and similar state constitutional provisions. Guess what? The same judges who do this shit are the judges who get to decide whether it's constitutional.

From my experience with these sorts of thing, the social worker keys in on basically whoever they feel is the most worthless, and just goes whole hog on them; either the burning gaze of the eye of sauron gets them to fix their shit (and then, by proxy, the less worthless half also needs to up their game) or they are burned away leaving the child with one less worthless parent.

Summary of new pleading from Erin on behalf of Ashley:

1. Lowtax can pay, judge plz make him.
2. Erin's fees are being paid by a third party at a reduced rate, it doesn't say who that is or what the rate is.
3. She accuses Lowtax of being "able-bodied and capable of providing payment", and further confirms that she doesn't have a green card right now. Affirmatively accuses Lowtax of trying to have her deported and cutting her off from money.
4. Blanket denial of everything in Lowtax's last pleading.
5. Ashley still lives in a woman's shelter.
6. Their joint account had over seventy grand in it, and is down to less than twelve since she took off.
7. Lowtax has over 2k a month in "auto expenses" and has spent fifteen grand on mobile games since Ashley took off.

After a quick trip to wikipedia, it looks like "gacha games" are basically casino gambling but without the booze, camaraderie, sex, and fun, where you "win" nonexistent digital crap instead of money. Lowtax is pouring more than grand a month into that? Can't Dana Outlaw nail him for wasting that much money at the same time he's pleading poverty over GAL services?

A grand a month for this bullshit, while he lets his youngest child live in a shelter and he tries to duck out of his financial responsibilities for the other two. That's puerile selfishness on a scale that's hard to imagine. Lowtax is a garbage human being.
