Final Fantasy 16 - It's Dragon's Dogma 2

Sony is backpedaling and now they're saying this game will be "exclusive" to PS5 despite the "also available on PC" line in the trailer. It's pretty obvious that this game will be a timed exclusive on PS5 since there's no way that Square Enix would be dumb enough to keep a game with a huge budget like FFXVI permanently locked down to one platform, especially if PS5 games are going to cost $70.

X was the last good one.

That feel when you realize only 14 years separated the 1987 original Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy X.

Now here we are almost 20 years after Final Fantasy X and the gap between 16 and X is certainly not as big as the gap between the original and X.

I honestly don’t care whether or not we get playable female characters.

At the very least I want another character like Cindy even if she isn't playable, but come on, why make two games in a row with no female playable characters?

So are we playing as just one guy or a full party?
Nobody knows but people are assuming looking at the trailer that we're getting some type of vargrant story type armor and weapon crafting due to how many different weapons he's holding.

The fact that they didn't really diminish Tifa's breast size in the FF7R in the year 2020 says to me that Square Enix doesn't care about SJWs and there will probably be at least one sexy female in 16.
Considering that listings for a Final Fantasy Collection have popped up in physical release listings outside of Asia, it seems we might be getting some kind of Crossover playable demo like they did with 15 and Type Zero. So shit is still coming sooner rather than later.

Maybe Square has finally decided to turn shit around like Capcom did? I mean their last few releases have not been lackluster.

Games are just not getting better. Full stop. In 2 years we got Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy 7. Plus a whole bunch of great shit besides those two.

They can't just kill their most marketable girl's appeal like that.

Wish I could be more excited. Maybe if it was a little more stylized and looked more like the anime trash it is instead of trying to emulate The Witcher? I'm not a fan of the hyper realistic CGI they use.

Maybe things will change further into development... or maybe we'll wait for ten years like Versus XIII.

I think the overwhelmingly negative reaction to FF13 made them afraid of female leads.
Did anyone complain about characters? Most of the complaints I heard were about the shitty map design and downgrade in gameplay which it was a fair criticism. Like I'm here thinking about past final fantasies and all the women were great, Lulu, Yuna, Riku, Garnet, Freiya, you name it. I'm having trouble thinking back on any final fantasy that had shitty female characters.

I wouldn't say full stop but there once was a time in which games only got exponentially better as time went on but that's not been the case anymore for a long time, some things are better now and some things are worse, it's a bumpy road, not a steadily rising curve.

Part of this is probably simply due to the Great Recession which has mucked up modern society in general, but part of this is due to toxic cultural trends like SJWs and part of this is due to things like smartphones cannibalizing some of AAA gaming's audience.

Still, it's not all bad, Resident Evil 2 remake is such a massive improvement over RE5 and RE6 so there's an example of how games have improved in recent years.

4, but that game had pretty weak characterizations in general. The twins sucked, Rosa sucked, Rydia was marginally less terrible but still paper-thin. They fixed it with the next one, though.
