Cocaine Mitch is likely explaining to her and Susan Collins that the Dems will use Ginsberg to steamroll them as an issue on Election Day, if they leave the seat as an undecided issue. Casting the vote and seating a Justice just triggers a temper tantrum which increases the chances they get re-elected.

Susan Collins is up for reelection this year, she needs to bring her voters a reason to reelect her.

Boy, I rember thinking it was fucking stupid when the Senate Democrats tried to filibuster on FUCKING GORSUCH in 2017, when there were ZERO stakes! Not even on Kavanaugh when they at least manufactured a rape allegation. This forced the issue of eliminating the filibuster on all judges to a point in time when Republicans could do it at a loss of absolutely no political capital.

If you can pick up even 3,000 votes because of this in a state like Wisconsin it's worth it for either party.

There are simply more votes to be gained for Biden. For every RINO Trump picks up that's scared of a potential permanent far left supreme court, Biden gets 20 people who hate Trump but aren't enthusiastic enough about Biden to vote.

Trump does not know if he will the election and if he does, will he have a senate majority.

This is something on my mind. I don't think he has the votes in the Senate now, but let's say he wins reelection while losing the Senate majority. Would Senators like Grassley and Collins be more inclined to approve someone in the lame duck session? I definitely wouldn't put it past the Democrats to leave the seat vacant for 2-4 years in this scenario.
