US Joe Biden News Megathread - The Other Biden Derangement Syndrome Thread (with a side order of Fauci Derangement Syndrome)

Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

pretty sure he's prepared for that for a while now, question is who he's gonna put on a table. I'm gonna laugh my ass off if it's the zodiac killer (rate me how you want, it would be hilarious)
Who are you referring to and what did they do to earn such a moniker? I'm not well read enough on US politics to know who the likely candidates would be. Thanks.

Zodiac Killer refers to Ted Cruz, it's because he looks suspiciously like the Zodiac Killer's face.
Oh, I thought the Zodiac Killer never was identified. I did find a sketch of him on wiki though and I can't say he looks anything like Lyin' Ted.

Anyway I appreciate getting me up to speed and I do agree it would be hilarious, the Dems would shit themselves.

It was a joke made online during the 2016 election. I believe it originates on /pol/.

It's kinda weird if it didn't motivate the left before her death- I mean she was ancient, chronically ill, and decrepit so she was obviously not long for this world despite the media shilling her as perfectly healthy. The election was obviously already a battle over who got to pick her replacement even before the news of her death, because there was no fuckin way she was gonna last until 2025. Biden winning and floating a liberal replacement for her seat would have probably been the motivation for her to finally retire. (Wasn't the main rumor going around that she didn't retire in Obama's 2nd term because she was holding out for the supposedly-assured Clinton victory so her replacement could be symbolically named by the first female president?) With that in mind I dunno if it's gonna amp the left up that much more in the long run, as they already should have already been voting with her replacement in mind, and I've seen it mentioned a lot before now.

otoh most people are incredibly stupid and short-sighted so maybe a ton of liberals just never once considered the fact that a sickly cancer-riddled 87 year old could die at any second?? idk :(
It simply wasn't in the spotlight until now and escaped their attention spans. And I think a lot of them really did start to buy the hype of the Notorious RBG outlasting Drumpf 45 until reality slapped them in the face hard and made them realize what a razor's edge they're on judicially.

Oh one hand I would love to see that..on the other I would like Cruz in the wings for 2024 since him and Trump have managed to come to an understanding.

I'm still a little shifty on what happened with Scalia. There was that weird "wetworks" Wikileaks email with a map that lined up with Scalia's location when he died and some confusion on where he actually died/where he was reportedly found to have died. Would not be surprised if something similar were happening here...
The thing that pissed me off the most about Scalia was the gravedancing. To the point where anyone who complains about gravedancing on RBG can shove it up their asses. I watched you exult over Scalia's passing, you fuckmooks.

Would be surprised if Trump doesn't ultimately go with Barrett for SC. Or has it already been decided?

I saw a yard full of signs for state and local democrats and a giant one that was just "46" with the presidential seal behind it.
I live in a progressive Left Coast city, the kind where you don't ever see Trump signs until you get out into the far suburbs where pickups outnumber Priuses. Anybody who supports Trump in this town is doing so on the DL, because to do it openly would just bring down an avalanche of hate from people determined to destroy them. We had serious rioting that I could tell spooked the shit out of a lot of people, but nobody dares speak out against it lest they get lumped in with the "fascists" and the "Nazis."

I haven't seen a single Biden sign anywhere in my neighborhood, or the ones adjoining it. Not one. And this is a neighborhood where people love to put various political virtue-signalling signs in their front windows or yards, especially this one:

But no Biden signs. None. There are still a few faded Bernie signs up, but nothing at all for Doddering Joe. I occasionally see a Biden bumper sticker on a car, but have only seen one for Biden/Harris, which tells me most of those stickers were applied back before the primary, and not since the convention. Shit, I see far more Andrew Yang stickers on cars than Biden. How fucking pathetic is that?

This is not normal; not even in the same time zone. Some people (not a lot, but some) put up Hillary signs in 2016, and this place was practically carpeted with Bernie signs back then, but this year? You wouldn't even know there was a presidential election just around the corner. I've seen generic VOTE signs, but the only "Vote Blue No Matter Who" sign I've seen was inside somebody's house.

Curiously, there aren't any 1312, Defund the Police, or ACAB signs around, either--there may be graffiti with those slogans, but not on people's houses, not even the shitty ones full of stoners and hippies and students. And I haven't seen any new Black Lives Matter signs go up since the riots began (though there is one old Boomer lady with homemade SAY HER NAME: BREONNA TAYLOR signs in the back window of her car).

At this point, I'm hotly anticipating Election Night because I can't be the only red-pilled lifelong Democrat in my city who will not be voting for Harris--uh, I mean Biden, yeah, that's right--and I want to see the results so fucking bad. It's a foregone conclusion that this city and county will go for Biden, and so will the state's electoral votes, so I will not be surprised if a lot of unhappy Dems decide to sit this one out, or put Bernie's (or Yang's, or Tulsi's) name down as a write-in. But I really want to know how many are like me, and are going to vote for Trump. And I suspect it's a lot more than even I think it might be.

Same deal for my geographic area. I live out in the far suburbs so I actually see a fair amount of Trump flag-flying pickups, but I go into the city pretty often and while progressive shit like BLM word salads and Bernie signs are common open Biden support is not. Unless you go back to 2008-2012 when he shared the ticket with Obama.

Biden signs are SLOWLY starting to pop up in my neighborhood, but I live in a concentrated hellhole of Left wing douchebaggery. The fact that only about 5 or 6 houses have a sign should be pretty worrying for them.

Ive started to see a lot more signs in my area finally. But there's a lack of creativity and excitement in the air. Feels more like obligation, as I live in a blue area.

I live in a solid blue district in a solid blue state and I only see Trump signs. Nobody likes Biden.

Pretty much the same. Two of my neighbours actually have Trump signs/flags, but I haven't seen a single Biden one. I'm planning on doing a ride through of my suburb tomorrow to count up all the signs, since I'm in a very blue area of red-leaning swing state.

So I had just came back from a trip to South TX in Corpus Christ (I have family there but I fucking hate the place). I'm seeing a ton of Biden signs in the poorer areas, mostly in spanish. A rough guestimation I'd say that it's split down the middle. Where I live myself barely anyone has signs in general. Most peeps just don't give a shit.

My favorite though is that on one of the backroads I saw two houses across a street that seem to be feuding. Big signs for both candidates with big 'honk for ____' that if I were their neighbor I'd be telling both of them to take that shit down.

I live closeby to the Bay Area and haven't seen any Biden signs around my deep blue district with its fair share of ghetto trash.

My observations of South TX show the opposite. Historically blue, hispanic districts there are running Trump car rallies that line-up in the dozens, flag sales are popular and around many corners, and so far there's been countless signs. There's also quite a few people wearing MAGA hats.

Biden, from what I've seen, has all of two signs, and one person wearing a t-shirt.

I see a lot of those signs as well but the closer you drive towards downtown, there's a slow trickle to a damn ocean of BLM signs literally everywhere. Then there are spots with giant rainbow and trans flags, healthcare for all etc, but Biden signs are still incredibly rare. In fact I have seen more signs for the Republican governor running in this sea of BLM signs than Biden signs. For years after 2016 there was a giant TRUMP sign off the highway but at some point it got cut in half and only read MP but you could still tell what the sign used to be.

There was a fight on my nextdoor about how people wanted to put up BLM signs to support such an amazing and progressive cause and someone pointed out that allowing all signs would mean they might have to face personal trauma over someone putting up a fascist Trump sign and they agreed that it would be horrible. Nextdoor is hilarious.

Can't speak for the valley or any other part of the area, just of Corpus. If you asked me I'd probably say the the numbers will be close to 2016's. The only real difference will be how mad the niggers are that their neighborhood is getting bulldozed for their new bridge.

I will say that I've only seen maybe 2 BLM signs, and both of them were handmade. I believe that the riots probably worked against the blues.

(Wasn't the main rumor going around that she didn't retire in Obama's 2nd term because she was holding out for the supposedly-assured Clinton victory so her replacement could be symbolically named by the first female president?)
If that's true, it was a monumentally stupid and arrogant decision. However intelligent RBG may have been, it means she allowed herself to get so caught up in her ideas about her own place in history that she lost sight of what needed to be done to ensure the gains she'd fought for were protected into the future. Which, depending upon who you ask, was either an unexpected benefit or a crying shame, but damn. She basically fucked her own legacy by not recognizing that bowing out a little earlier than she would have liked offered the surest path to preserving it.

Hubris is a helluva drug.

I saw one of those exact signs elsewhere in my neighborhood. Residents were lily-white Gen X motherfuckers.
LOL, are you in my neighborhood? Because that's pretty much who puts these signs up: white; college-educated; professionals or very recent retirees; aged roughly 40-70 (but weighted heavily toward the 50-somethings).

Oh, and female, of course. There may be a couple of scrawny, querulous, Prius- or Leaf-driving men who have bought these signs, but every single house I see them on is occupied by at least one woman in the demographic described above, so we know whose idea it is to buy them.

And I've always (okay, at least since 2016, when these signs first appeared) marveled at the kind of thinking that compels people to put these signs up. These are in no way radical statements, at least not where I live; there is no opposition to them. Virtually everybody here is going to either agree with all of the statements on the sign, or at least know to pay lip service to them. When meeting a stranger on the street in this city, it is a safe assumption that they substantially agree with all of these statements.

So they neither educate anybody, nor do anything to change others' minds; the strongest reaction they will get around here is a slight nod and a "Yeah, that's nice." It's like living in a small Southern town where everybody attends one of the three local Baptist churches every Sunday, and putting a sign that says "Jesus is Lord" in your front window. But I guess some people feel compelled to let all of their good Christian neighbors know that no, really, they are the best, most devoted Christian, lest you think otherwise--and evangelical progressives are no different in that regard.
