Tbh, as much as I loathe Mitch McConnell, he was right here. Be careful about giving yourself a weapon you wouldn't want to give to your enemy. The democrats are now paying the price for that. They might also be a bit more gunshy about court-packing. Do they really want to open the door for there to be 15 Scalia's on the bench?

Senators are typically a lot more competent and sane than members of the House, so court packing is likely a fantasy that would only be pushed by them to help get a few votes from the rubes before they get back to work and promptly ignore all those promises.

A foetus is a human being. I hate this ‘ lump of cells’ argument.
It comes down whether a woman has more rights than the foetus. Either women have a right to determine whether they will carry and birth a child or they don’t. If they don’t, and they have no right to abstain completely from sex, then their rights are non existent and they are just vessels.
Abortion is killing - it is a potential person and not a clump of cells. It just comes down to whose rights predominate, the woman or the foetus? There isn’t a nice way to resolve it. In an ideal world we’d all have 100% effective contraception, Zero unwanted pregnancies, no alkies getting knocked up, no drug addicts getting pregmant, and no men keeping women pregnant every year by force (which happens, believe me, grim as it is.) in an ideal world every child would be born healthy and to a stable couple who really want it. In reality, some sex is not consensual, some people will be shit parents. And some parents end up discovering catastrophic health issues late in the day and have to decide whether to carry on with all the risks that entails.
I dont like the idea of abortion. It is killing. The reality is it’s probably needed. I can totally understand why people have very strong views against it, but my own view is that the law as it stands in the UK is alright.

This is largely my own view on the matter, I think it's wholly immoral and disgusting but I don't believe it should be made illegal, just at most logistically inconvenient in such a way to force the people to spend time considering whether or not they truly want to go through with it. The reason I dislike RBG isn't because "LMAO WOMEN'S RIGHTS ABORTION" but because she was an activist judge who let her biases and preconceptions determine her decisions in a position where I think ideally all members should work and strive to be as unbiased and cautious about making precedents as possible. After all the duty of the court is to interpret law, not create it.
