Final Fantasy 16 - It's Dragon's Dogma 2

Apparently 16 is being done almost entirely with 14's dev team and Nomura hasn't touched it since he's still busy with 7 and someone else is now handling Kingdom hearts and some other other other unrelated team is doing shit with the Mana series.

So if it's being handled by 14's team the characters are going to look dull at the start because you'll be able to dress them up all fancy later in the game.

Maybe they'll also steal the party system from Dragon's Dogma, and that's why you only see the hero right now. I really liked it.

I forget who had this idea, but I remember reading in Game Informer years ago when they had an article series where famous devs would talk about what they would do if put in charge of famous franchises and the idea some guy had for FF was to have the combat look like you're watching a cutscene but every so often it will pause and you select what to do next ala turn based combat, which sounds like an interesting way to do turn based combat to me.
It would be like a Full Motion Video Movie game but with more improv and freedom on the player's end and actually good. Why are we not funding this? Give that man a medal too, this idea sounds awesome.
I like that they're apparently going back to a more contemporary fantasy setting instead of the neo futuristic shit that's been going on since FF13.
13 was awful because it was trying to be everything at once without its own worldbuilding and had a shitty incoherent and poorly theme inconsistent mythology.

A bunch of the devil May Cry guys are supposedly handling the combat which is cool because those guys know how to make flashy fun combat.

Does this mean that 14 is being taken over by a less experienced junior team and the game will decline in quality?

13, despite being so linear, just meandered badly. With things happening to our heroes that push them in the right direction when they're done getting lost. It almost felt like a riff on video game story telling.

It also came out in a time where streamlining was a fad and idiots would defend it as "functionally identical". Thinking of how you bought things off an online store in that game. Yes, it's more efficient than a shop for weapons, armor, or items but that added flavor.

I'm pretty sure it's established that it was years for Rydia in the Feymarch, so she is an adult. Edge didn't know her as a child so it's not really that weird. It would have been funny for Cecil to comment on it, though.
Well, Edge is 26, so even if Rydia is legal it's still kind of creepy (Fun fact, out of the final 5 characters Edge is the only one over 21).

Hey you want to know what noped out of existence?

The Final Fantasy Type-0 Sequel. They even made a full on sequel bait thing for the original game and nothing came of it.

I guess we'll never find out what happens when 9 and 9 meets 9. The pretension for the fucking lore in that game was astronomical, on par with creating your own broadway play for in game and having some retard constantly reference it like in Crisis Core.

The fact that all their recent games have been fairly simple and the story not going fucking crazy all over the place is quite the difference.

This looks so dull, repetitive, clichéd and trite, I bet it'll be a instant hit and go on to sell millions of copies, plus spawning a couple of even more action-oriented spin-offs, further deviating away from what an RPG should fucking be.

Big if true. FFXIV is currently in a lull because it's in that calm between the planned expansions, but if they're starting to pull people off it to work on other things then I can only imagine it's all downhill from the peak that was Shadowbringers.

The Japanese Trailer had some more info on it, there may be a few tactics systems because the whole point of the game is to bring down the summons and kill them. It may not be on ground party fights for the whole game. There's supposed to be some large boss monsters that you're supposed to scale and shit.

Gear seems to be a big part of it because he's got weapons each based on a different summon while fighting. You can see him switch between Phoenix, Gigas, and others.

Being that there's no UI present we can't really determine shit all that well yet. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake battle system probably did the merger between turn based and action the best but if you were looking at it without the UI it would look like a flat out action game.

Final Fantasy 15 was modern day with magic and weird creatures, except you're a saudi prince.

Like most of the time spent was like driving around and exploring a national park.
The driving everywhere with a hit or miss on fast travel working is what makes it a pain to play (imho) and I would rather just play something else than alt-tab on my other monitor while I'm being driven to another part of the map.
