Democracy is the easiest way for foreign powers to control a nation. Fundamentally speaking a person can only be elected if they have enough money to prop up their campaign. If you have enough money you can pick exactly who runs on both sides and carefully pick the people so only one of them is actually electable. Then everyone goes out and votes for the person who was already long decided to be the winner and everyone thinks they just "democratically elected" someone.

I don't think there is a monolithic illuminati controlling everything. Perhaps as the charity dinner demonstrate, they know each other. But as Trumps comments demonstrate, they don't appear to be aligned. Maybe at the top levels of power there are factions that have their own agenda that conflict with other groups agendas. What interests me is that Trump panders to Israel so hard. More than any other President before him that used to tacitly support both sides. And the Israeli PM comes out and put his full support behind Trump. Despite what the narrative is. It makes me wonder if Trump has certain powerful groups on side that are able to thwart some things that are sent his way by other powerful groups. Thinking in a practical sense.
