Despite the history of corruption in Memphis, corrupt politicians get slammed pretty hard. They’ve rounded up a lot of the embezzlers and bribery-prone politicians, and those in charge have cleaned up the city step by step. So, all in all, the local leadership’s alright.

Seems pretty likely that the word has gotten out to prepare for a no true bill. Doubt the PD would be mobilizing the way it is otherwise. And it should surprise no one. When you send cops to serve a warrant and someone in the house shoots at them, it's pretty hard to charge them for returning fire. A more nuanced question would be if it is the fault of whomever signed the warrant, applied for it, if the department tactics suck or if you should be raiding houses for drugs at all anymore. But nuances like that don't matter when there's lootin' to be done.

I said I dont think blacks and whites can live side by side peacefully. If Memphis is a city where there are middle and upper class blacks then thats good enough for me. The problems of such a city isnt my concern. If its all black then its their responsibility to fix things. Not mine. It would be no longer be in my neighborhood.

Yeah, I just want people to be peaceful. As an African American, I would say that the problem comes from the typical refusal to improve upon one’s self in order to become more functional members of society. Black families tend to not put emphasis on skill building, hard work, and education. Even if they do, the anti-intellectual nature of black communities in school dissuade those with prospect from pushing themselves. I’ve known many with promise sink very far down in potential once they started associating with ghetto trash. I’m talking “Top-tier Student” to “Nasty Baby Mama/Daddy” degrees of decline. I can see why some view African Americans as “Tribalistic” or “Savage.”
