Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Probably. The goalposts have been moved from "flatten the curve" (reduce deaths) to simply "eliminate deaths" to "reduce cases" and we are now at "eliminate cases". After we "eliminate cases" we'll move onto "well the numbers and deaths are underreported so let's make sure the pneumonia and flu cases are gone too."

My friends have also determined that the initial 1 million deaths estimate was something Trump made up so he can boast about how "successful" he was when he killed 200K people.

I fully expect maskshit to run through 2021 at the very earliest.

Folks, "they" will milk this just as long as they can. They will make up reasons if needed but will not stopped short of massive civil disobedience/violence.

Some other thoughts that came up this morning...

A leader seeks to prevent hardship upon those he/she leads. Failing that, a leader does all he/she to alleviate the hardship and bring it to an end as soon as possible. This is what leaders who consider the servants of those
entrusted to their care do.

The only people I consider leaders these days are President Trump, Vice President Pence, and the few governors who acted like leaders and refused to put their states under house arrest.

Far as the other governors go, they are not leaders. They are merely elected officials. The worst of them actively, deliberately, and maliciously exacerbate the hardships they have placed on the people of their states - Newsom, Whitmer, Coumo, and Walz come to mind. Worse, they openly flaunt the directives they have imposed on the people. Have seen this more and more often. These people don't consider themselves or government as people's servants, but their masters.

Below the level of governor in those states, there are no leaders whatsoever, just office-holders, many of whom also get their kicks by making things as hard as they can for people. Here, talking district attorneys, "health directors", judges, and certain parts of law enforcement. They fuck with people because they can. They, too, believe government is the people's master, not their servant.

We bitch and complain about China treats their people. You can't tell me Victoria's government in Australia treats their people any better or any differently. The rubber-stamp "legislature" splorts out "law" after "law", many of which would make the Nazis, Soviets, or Chinese proud. And from what I see these days many American states have nothing on the Chinese. They aren't always so blatant about it, but the intention to fuck with the people in many, many ways is all too evident.

A big deal is made about America being a nation of laws. The ONLY law there seems to be anymore is "Do as you please, just don't get caught." But all is not lost even if you are caught, no matter what you do. Criminals have more rights than anyone else, and most assuredly more than their victims. Criminals know how the game is played, and so do defense attorneys, prosecutors, and judges. That's why you see a pedo in MN getting off pretty much scot-free. That's why you see so many travesties of justice these days. Such travesties have always been around, but today, sadly, they almost seem to be the norm. Do YOU believe you will get a fair trial if you go to trial, whether in front of a judge alone or a jury? In my opinion, if you have a good enough lawyer(s), with "connections", not much to sweat. You'll walk or get a slap on the wrist. Absent such a lawyer(s), you are most likely fucked, innocent or not. "Show me the person, I'll show you the crime."

The longer this ChiCom Flu national farce goes on, the lower the credibility of and respect and trust, never that high to begin with, in government, the judiciary, and law enforcement. "They" never miss a paycheck and don't care what happens to you. They really don't. Americans seem to know this instinctively now, and do all they can to live without reference to the government/judiciary/law enforcement. 'We'll handle our own shit, thank you very much."

Wish I had a good answer, but I don't. Some days, like today, I start thinking about things and get a real case of the ass. But these days, anyone who hasn't drunk the Koolaid and thinks about how things really are will get a case of the ass themselves.

I like this. Not just politicians, but judges and government at all levels.

And Christmas is next on the list. If people readily accepted whatever they would do on that, then its all over.

But as was seen in Los Angeles, people aren't accepting government's bullshit and lies. Am far more concerned about the many, many children who may not get anything for Christmas this year because their parent(s) were simply not allowed to work by a criminal "governor". If you can, try to donate to a Christmas toy/food drive. Even a few bucks helps. Or you may know a family up against it. You give what you can, quietly. Gifts given in public are for the benefit of the giver. Gifts given quietly and privately are for the benefit of the recipient. And whatever you give will truly be appreciated. Give with no thought of getting anything back, and in time it will come back.

It's kind of funny that you guys only now coming to this conclusion. This is something, every citizen of Eastern Europe has been getting with the milk of his mother for the last...200 years? Bureaucracy (as well as politicians) is a thing in itself and cannot be blindly trusted. You always have to assume that the sky isn't really blue.

Talk of the next pandemic has been endemic in the media and political circles, worldwide, for the last fifteen or twenty years. They've been itching, waiting, for a chance to enact this sort of control over peoples lives, and now they've had even the slightest hint of an excuse, they've all jumped in head first. Remember how SARS, Ebola, H1N1 and a few other damp squib "epidemics" were turned into media sensations since 2000? They wanted a disease to run rampant, so they could turn the world on its head and order every moment of every person's life according to their whims and wishes.

The global response to this has been to enact measures that would probably be half-way successful in dealing with a flu epidemic, but this isn't a flu epidemic. They're flailing about and making shit up as they go, because they have no idea how to act, because they're incompetent, and because they want to justify their early overreaction in the face of mounting evidence that they made exactly the wrong call on this.

They're perpetuating the panic, because they've had a taste of that absolute power, and they don't want to let go. It's the Reddit moderator problem scaled up to national policy; they have control over petty aspects of our lives, and now they demand we conform, or we're banned from society.

I'm not a naturally violent man, nor am I prone to acting out and declaring violent responses to miniscule things, but even I have my limits. I worry that I may pass them soon. I have missed three milestone birthdays, a birth, a death, a niece and a nephew receiving awards, a cousin's graduation, easter, midsummer, two family holidays, numerous gatherings, any number of friends in need of encouragement, companionship, or help, family meals, nights out, anniversaries, and spontaneous gatherings.

There are three important moments in my life to come in the next few months. My father's birthday, of which there are likely not many left; my brother's birthday; christmas. If I miss these, then god help me, because I will do something very stupid.

And the question, to bring it all back around, is why? Why are they doing this to us? Are they really just the petty reddit-tier mods, writ large, that I don't want them to be? Are they just getting high off the ability to make people dance to their tune? Are they really just fucking incompetent faggots with delusions of grandeur? Right now I want it to be a conspiracy, because at least then there's a god damn reason for all of this happening, but I'm certain that it's just a bunch of idiots who overreacted, can't admit fault, and who would rather double down on their retardation than dial back and let it go.

Rate me MOTI or whatever, I don't care. I am. Fuck this gay earth.

At this point I'm pretty sure everyone in the US hates the judiciary and government. The left hates them because it's all white supremacists dedicated to oppression po' people of color and the right/sane people hates them for reasons you said. Problem is too many people keep believing in THE SCIENCE and trusting THE EXPERTS and the idea of cops and the courts being full of racist Nazis goes out the window when they're arresting a guy trying to run his business or harassing someone for not wearing a mask. I've never seen the usual science-believers discuss a black guy or a black-owned business being harassed for that though, although some county in Oregon (because of course) wanted to make it so only white people would be fined for not wearing a mask.

It's called "the Great Reset", officially unveiled by the World Economic Forum in June this year. This isn't even a conspiracy or a nickname invented by conspiracy theorists, they literally have called it that. We are somehow supposed to think a "Great Reset" is a good or desirable thing, despite the fact we were finally recovering from the last economic crisis back a decade ago and their "Reset" appears to do nothing but redistribute actual wealth to the elites and redistribute funny money UBI (since money won't have much value soon enough) to everyone else. The WEF has also praised the Chinese government's handling of their virus so that should tell you where they stand and the sort of ideas that get discussed there.

H1N1 ended up being mostly a media scare just as this pandemic might've been. It was maybe 3-4x less lethal than this disease but unlike the WuFlu hit all age ranges equally and actually killed kids. Funny enough, people like Dr. Ferguson and IIRC Fauci were calling for similar measures back then. I suspect that with the economic crisis at the time, the elites decided not to add to their misery. That, and causing yet more economic harm would utterly wreck their golden boy Obama.

What underlies all these stupid, mostly ineffectual, restrictions is that this time they've stolen our time. And not for a good reason, but simply because they're power hungry or feel that they have to be seen doing something. We've all effectively lost, what, six months? That we can never get back. Doesn't mean anything to those dumbass Millenials and Zoomers that are terrified, even though they're some of the least at risk people, but for the rest of us?

I've said before that I expected at least one governor in the US to be dragged out of a state house by an angry mob. I'm increasingly concerned one will have to be before the nonsense ends. That said, Trump did a rally in my state the other day and the Lt. Governor was the warm up and his mask advocacy got him booed.

The one positive right now in Minnesota is the state Senate is Republican controlled. Having a split legislature means Walz’s executive orders cannot be revoked, but Paul Gazelka, the Senate Majority Leader, found a way to get back at the governor. The Senate has been firing commissioners because they have that power in Minnesota. Two have fallen so far. Here is Walz crying about it because they were his friends. :story:

Where's the 'rise in cases' coming from? We're well into the 6-7 month, this should be (and is) declining like every other disease like this. The hospitalizations and deaths don't even match or look close to the number of cases either.

There seems to be 4 possibilities at present:

1) Backlogs being cleared out.
2) the new quick turnaround testing method may be catching far more cases far quicker.
3) colleges and schools reopened, so college students and children, the two least vulnerable demographics, are being exposed to the virus.
4) there may be something to the "second wave" speculation.

At present, until or unless hospitalizations start rising again I'm cautiously optimistic that it's a combination of the first 3(Texas just dumped something like 10k+ old cases). If they do start rising, that could signal a genuine resurgence.

For a very long time, Americans have overall had confidence in government/judiciary. Americans overall have had confidence in their system. Americans overall have wanted to believe the best about the people they elect. But what's happened this year is beyond the pale, at least below the level of the President and Vice-President. Americans overall know Trump is trying his best, even with his mistakes. They believe he's doing what he can to alleviate the hardships, but that's very difficult to do when the majority of state governors are doing their best to make their states miserable places.

Many people have lost more time, I'm convinced one of the end goals is to destroy the remaining fitness of the world, some gyms still aren't fully open and it's a pain to get equipment. Weak people are easier to control, and won't make the masses feel bad about their poor fitness.

UK government flip flopping on whether or not they want people back to work or not and are now advising people not to go to their offices if they can work from home when only a few weeks ago they were pushing for more people to go back to offices. While they are probably going off the data they have it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence and I wouldn't want to be in Boris' shoes right now.

On the one hand I'm lucky that I have a job at all but on the other hand my tiny flat is terrible for long term home working. I was enjoying the few weeks I had in the office, guess its back to working from prison home for the foreseeable future. Bloody sickly Norf fucking it up for everyone else.

What's your job lad? Surely it can be improved with the ability to blast "let's get retarded" by the black eyed peas as much as you want?
(I'm just bragging because my (soon to be ex) job let me do that while doing up some new offices I don't think I'll be moving into)

Also, just noticed that Prince Charles is the official finger puppet of the new economic rape scheme. Another reason why Elizibeth needs to never die and if she does there needs to be a "great reset" of who's allowed to be on the throne with all the prince andrew and prince harry bollocks.

This wouldn't surprise me at all. I was actually planning on getting my diet back under control and making a hard push for losing some of the weight I'd picked back up when this shit all started. Made finding the right foods rough at first, but I made a concerted effort to at least not gain weight. Managed to drop a handful of pounds even with a less than ideal diet. I've also been getting back to working out, at least what I could do at home. Was shooting my dad's AR10 and was less than pleased with how hard it was to hold it on target after a bit. It's a heavy gun, but still.

But it's tough, since you're fighting the stress and depression from being isolated as well.

I managed to run 100+ miles consecutively for 3 months this year from all of the free time I have, and 100% unmasked of course. I've backed off a bit from running so much and I'm now doing a shitload of pullup bar, bodyweight, and kettlebell stuff. Diet wise I'm doing high protein, high fat with steak almost every day, rice/homemade bread, and lots of homemade kefir.

I'm still pissed off about my gym reopening, and then closing again. I was going twice a day because I had nothing else better to do. It sucks I have to manage around that, but hey I can see my abs now and I'm in the best shape I've ever been in, so I guess it's not all bad. No yoga or pilates at home for this wrongthinker.

I too think there is an undercurrent of some attempt to try to fuck over people's long-term health by shutting down access to fitness. Also back when they were freaking out about slaughterhouse covid infections I'm sure there were bugmen "experts" out there rubbing their first set of forearms in glee to shut them down and socially engineer the food supply.

I literally was quoting and linking people stats from the CDC, but I was told that I was "repeating Fox News/Breitbart alt-right talking points from politicized media."

Even though the stats showed less than 100 kids dying from COVID this year, I was a monster for saying that 1 in 1000 people die under the age of 50.

People just want to be afraid, and it's sad.

Literally the only good thing to come out of this shit is that I've finally had time to work ony garden, and that's only because I can't do anything that would distract me from it, go on holiday, or see any of my family or friends on anything other than zoom
I've spent more time involved in DIY work on my car than I've ever been. Even after many restrictions got lifted here, the truth is people are still hesitant about outdoor and other social in-person activities -- especially if they live with or regularly interact with people in vulnerable categories. Online interaction, as nice is it can and may be, can only do so much for human beings that need some degree of regular interaction with other people.

I check the stats for the coof towards the end of the day, and it's kind of annoying how they're just now adding in some cases from the past. My state's total cases have expanded quite a bit, and so have some other states. Just makes looking at the stats really weird lately.
The problem I see is that states add in unreported cases from previous days into the current day's numbers, and that inflates the day's number and allows the media to overhype and sensationalize what looks like a drastic increase to unknowing people. It would be better if they put cases from prior days into its own separate category for daily reports and back-update the prior days to better track and show the actual trends over time. Unfortunately, that would take the element of fear and control away from the media and those in charge that seem to want to keep restrictions in place and not relinquish their control any time soon.

On the radio, I heard that the Michigan legislature may be planning the next budget with the default assumption that they will get zero federal assistance to make up for revenue shortfalls. This isn't surprising since Republicans control both state chambers. I caught the tail-end, so I have no idea what Governor Whitmer thinks about this possibility, but it's something she has to accept as a realistic possibility. We'll see if she once again shows a passive-aggressive lack of bipartisanship with the upcoming budget as she did last year when she didn't get the road repair tax she wanted -- the same tax about which many of her fellow Democrats openly expressed dislike.

They tightened the lockdown in the North of England first, now they're tightening it in the Midlands. I'm not sure if Manchester was hit by the Northern lockdown, but if it was 2/3 of the big cultural cities in England are under extra lockdown rules.
Manchester and a whole swathe of the greater Manchester area were, yeah.

Every single person I know who works for the NHS who is not a fat cunt is saying the same thing: only reason it's all shit is cos so many people in the UK are fat. And this is true of the west as a whole.

Two thirds of people are fatties. If even a fraction get sick at the time the NHS will crack.

This virus is really not that fatal outside of old, or sick or fat people. I'm inclined to think the people losing their shit hardest are fat, got fatter the last few months and are now facing up to the fact their gluttony leaves them more likely to die of a virus that's a subtype of the cold with a tiny fatality rate.

Their expectation that society grinds to a halt to protect their fat arses because they have refused for years to stop being a pig is, like all fat cunts, self centered and selfish.

Covid is no big deal if you're healthy and not a fat piece of shit as a rule. I had it. Wasn't fun, wasn't as bad as flu.
