And to rub extra salt in the wound, just like the Republicans did with Thurgood Marshall's seat and Clarance Thomas, they will replace her with another woman, but one that likely leans strongly to the right and who will take strict interpretation to the constitution.

A small correction

Trump has to pick a female justice not to honor RBG or placate her rabid suppliers but because it removes the main Democrat weapon of digging up a old unknown acquaintance to toss around the old rape allegation.

Good luck pushing a past rape charge on that conservative Cuban justice.

...not that I'm saying the Dems won't try. They very well might dig up something as they are extremely desperate.

I keep seeing this dumb take in this thread.
No matter who they pick the Democrats and media are going to go apeshit, from the moment RBG died this was destined to end up with a party line vote, followed by decades of 'illegitimate Justice X'.

They don't even have to have a hearing for the Dems. to sperg at, just pick the most Constitutionally solid person and vote.

I think the point is "if we want this done as quickly as possible, we have to choose a woman." If they choose a man then women will come flying out of the woodwork to create a media circus that Dems will drag out for eternity.

Its not a dumb take, its just that it and you are missing some nuance. Making it a woman won't suddenly, magically make attacks not happen. What it will do is defang them, and make it much harder to attack her in a way that the democrats can sell to the american people.

They'll either have to go all in on the sex allegation, which no one will buy due to a mixture of skepticism post-kavanaugh and her being a woman, or find something with a lot less
oomph.

She was a Reform "Jew". If she was Orthodox, she wouldn't be lying in state, she would have been buried within 24 hours. According to Jewish tradition, every second that you're dead and unburied is excruciatingly painful. In an aside, her temple put out a video of a speech where the "rabbis" of her temple call Ginsburg a prophet.

Whiles it's true that they don't have to give the Dems a opportunity to examine their choice for the SCotUS it would be very bad politically to just cut them out entirely of the process.

1. It would justify many of the Democrats talking points about Trump being a fascist.

2. It would give even more ammo to the Trump campaign as you know that the Dems, mostly Schiffy boy, can't resist making histrionics which really won't go over well with Latino voters, especially in Florida.

To me there is really no downside to giving the Dems a chance to throw down their accusations in public as you know they're sure as hell going to get their media bootlickers to attacker whoever is nominated.

Let's just get them to do it in the open and on record.

I'm not missing any nuance.

The Republicans don't have to entertain any accusations or require testimony from the nominee. The attacks that will happen either way simply don't matter, they can easily be ignored with no real consequences.

At first, I thought, why should it matter to the Left who is a Supreme Court judge and who not? Surely in a constitutional democracy with the separation of powers, those in the independent judiciary, and especially those in the Supreme Court should be 100% neutral and objective.

In November 2018, when Chief Justice John Roberts ruled against President Trump’s illegal immigrant policies and Trump called him “An Obama Judge”, Judge Roberts fired back saying…

“We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges. What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them. The independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for.”

A bit idealistic if you ask me, but that is how it should be…at least, theoretically.

Nevertheless, back and forth it went about “our judges” and “their judges” …

Fact is that the courts in America are extremely politicized. The law is the law, the constitution is the constitution, but how it is interpreted by conservatives and leftists, is completely different. Therefore, you have so-called “Republican Judges” and “Democratic Judges”.

After Ruth Ginsburg died, the Left had a fit, because now Trump will appoint one of the young Republican Judges in her place. The appointment is lifelong, so such a judge can have a major influence on bills passed or not for decades. A whole generation.

That is why Iranian-American academic, author and part time promiscuous religious zealot, Reza Aslan, tweeted, "Over our dead bodies, literally."…and "If they even TRY to replace RBG we burn the entire f-----g thing down" (referring to the Congress).

It is like the Left was/is certain that Biden WILL win in November and will then appoint one of THEIR judges.

Idk if this requires a constitutional amendment or not but this is a great idea even if the dems are doing it because of a tantrum. I do not believe the SC was meant to have the influence it currently does and I'm all for nerfing it a little bit. Hopefully the pubs agree and shock the fuck out of the dems. The whole court may end up conservative by the time Trumps second term ends with this change.

It would almost certainly require a constitutional amendment. The Supreme Court justices serve for LIFE, so says the constitution itself. If anybody wanted to change this, they would have to pass an amendment to do it.
