They are doing this because they are expecting Trump to pick Barrett with her baggages, especially when she ruled in favor of lockdown. The DNC will attack her based on her record and when they do, it will be very difficult to get her through. If she fails to be confirmed, Trump loses the election, the Democrats take the Senate, and they will pack the court to make sure a Trump-like figure never happens again. The DNC isn't as dumb as we think we are, which is why they are going all in on the Supreme Court seat.

Better hope for the increasingly slim chance of a fakeout so that we don't have to deal with a nasty court fight and then have to hope that Barrett won't pull a Robert when we get a contested election.
