Despite being the laughing stock, I think America has a tighter grip on Covid than other countries give America credit for. We have higher numbers because we aren't lying (as much). Americans are lucky they can act like it's no big deal while other countries are getting ready to go into more strict lockdown. Covid's far from over, we don't even have a vaccine, and any immunity you get from having it goes away as the virus becomes resistant to your antibodies.
I won't go into how Murica lied, silenced people who blew the whistle, tried to limit testing, refused to cooperate with organisations who can help like the WHO and what not.
You have to understand that the world will have to deal with the plague as long as Murica allows its spread. To think people called for China to be nuked in Metokur's streams. The logic is simple. Nuke the places that fail to control the plague properly like Murica and Sweden have.
Saying that China or South Korea or Vietnam or New Zealand lied because they have low numbers is just deflection. Just like how you are making excuses for how incompetent Murica is by bizarrely saying China is incompetent even though its economy is recovering. I am not the type to believe that people with the plague can go to work or work properly.

Last time I checked, Murica isn't part of China. If the plague spreads very quickly in China, it is Murica's fault.
And the last time I checked, it is Murica saying that it isn't scary. It will go away in April and what not. China locked down her cities which doesn't spell "just a flu" to me.
It didn't surprise me that China got hit hard by the virus even if the mortality rate was only a little higher than the flu. Mainland Chinese don't have the best diet and suffer from a lot of side effects eating food low protein and high sodium and low in nutrients. A common issue with a lot of young people recently was kidney failure because they live off street food and roman noddles. Combined with overworking employees most aren't getting much rest or physical activity. Most Chinese are barely holding on day to day, and I noticed that mild illness had a much more severe impact on them. It doesn't help that they're told Western medicine is too powerful and will kill them. Instead, they get holistic shit pills they take by the bottle and they don't work.
The Health system in China is really bad. I had a family member suffering from mild seizures and memory loss. I got him all the way to a specialist in Beijing and they didn't even run any tests. Just gave him mystery pills. When I was traveling in Northern China my asthma started to act up, even though I thought I outgrew it, and the only treatment I got was some mystery iv drip that I had to do every day for a week. It burned like hell through my veins and it didn't cure asthma.
Very infectious lung disease is the worst-case scenario for China because of how cramped and unsanitary conditions are. The CCP not sharing any information and covering their ass made it worse. Around February and March China had either unleashed the black death or a very contagious flu. No one knew how things would go.
For some bizarre reason, every country on Earth imitated China's totalitarian system of shutting their countries down. I didn't know when banning all human activity for almost a year became an option for a viral infection, but here we are.
You obviously haven't been to China for a while. Especially if you say that they withheld information. Early this year, I go to Wechat and there are channels and communities providing daily updates, how to safeguard yourself and what not.
And you stiil think that wall to wall coverage of the plague when it hit China at February and March counts as covering the plague up, I wonder what is considered a cover up for you.
Where does the lie that China didn't share information about the plague comes from really? All they can do is to point to the initial cockups at December and January then play blind when the country mobilised itself to combat the plague from February onwards.
