The ending of the last season just seemed too optimistic when they pretended like jazz was just going to go to college. too optimistic that jazz would be able to fit in. too optimistic that would even pass any of the classes. too optmistic that even if jazz had people cheat for jazz that jazz could even be a lawyer with a faked education. and that was right before corona virus.

A bit generic notice, but it's the kind of notice you get when a show is in limbo.

Jazz being a mess isn't an impediment for them to keep going with the show. btw. They keep going even after his vagina actually exploded, why would they stop now when his life has no meaning? A lot of editing here and there and it looks like Jazz's going through the normal tribulations of a teenager... despite he's 20.

I love how Jazz thinks an actual therapist is just some "random individual" who doesn't really know him for who he really is, but some butcher can just give him a vagina. Even Jeannette is frustrated with the little monster she created.

Did Jazz have to have a shrink sign off on his "dysmorphia" in order for him to get castrated? Is the shrink's name public knowledge? Whoever it was they really let this boy down. I have a very bad feeling about Jazz. I hope he finds something else in life to focus on.

IICR (and I know the answer is here in this thread), his original therapist was a relative of the family. Gonna try to find it later, can't now, but yes, he's seen a shrink although I think there is some conflict of interests here.

Deborah Eve Babyatsky-Grayson is now a Clinical Psychotherapist; to obtain a doctorate in Philosophy she wrote her dissertation entitled, "Counseling Transgender Youth Utilizing Expressive Art Therapies" based on Jaron.
In the series, it was once vaguely hinted that Debbie was also Jeanette's therapist at the time of filming.

Jazz went to see a woo-therapist, the one with the hypnosis session where he remembered a past life as a shunned gay boy.

Before the bottom butchery, however, Jazz had to go to a 'real and unbiased' psychologist to give him the all-clear. This was mentioned only in passing: Jazz saw (I think we can take that quite literally) the therapist and got the signed document needed in order to perform the sugery. From what little info was given on this "therapy sessions", we can assume it went smoother than when Jazz went to the DMV — there he had the problem with his legal male name.

Quite late, but speaking of Jazz's legal name: "Jaron" was (according to Jazz's own book) a combo of "Jared" and "Aaron" and the reason he calls it "conveniently gender neutral" might be because these nutcases pronounce it more like "Sharon".

this is a loop, very similar on how Money got famous. All these people experimented with Jazz in order to prove what they thought or did was right.

I fell down a rabbit hole about facial tattoos the other day, and read that because face tattoos are becoming popular because of celebrities (check out Chris Brown's Nike tattoo if you want a chuckle) tattoo artists in the UK are amongst those trying to change the law so you can only get one from 21 not 18 as at present. Tattoo artists are the first to acknowledge that visible tattoos, particularly on the hands and face, have effects on how you are treated by others and reputable studios will refuse if they are uncomfortable with it. It was interesting comparing the attitudes about face tattoos and trooning out anyway.

I would LOVE if someone would analyze/read the Being Jazz book similar to what was done in the Schofield thread. I tried my hand at it but was finding red flags in literally every sentence and gave up out of exhaustion. But if one of you brave souls has some extra time and autism, much obliged.

If you want a short summary of what happens in the book without the analysis/psychological investigation of paragraphs, I'll put some interesting shit here for you:

-Jazz essentially was obsessed with girl shit from the instant he was born. Mermaids, pink, Disney shit, etc. He would throw a tantrum being in normal boy clothes.
-Jeanette thought he was going to be a girl because of creepy pagan woo charms shit and was pissed when she found out he was a boy.
-Ari was peeved that Jazz was now supposed to be her "Sister". She misgendered him several times and gave no fucks.
-Jazz was a little brat, throwing tantrums all the time. He threw a tantrum over getting a blue toothbrush instead of a pink one.
-Greg was less than thrilled about Jazz being trans but slowly accepted it like the cuck he was.
-Jazz would try to pick at/tuck his penis in school all the time to the point where it became a problem that the teachers had to speak up on. He was also obsessed with drawing boobs/vaginas. This is as early as elementary school.
-Jazz grew up obsessed with his girl friend's boobs. He'd stare at them all the time and would be jealous.
-Jazz would steal all of Ari's things and dress up in Ari's clothes. He even wore her bras.
-Jazz got cucked out of playing girls soccer.
-Jazz flashed his penis to his girl friends at sleepovers. Again, elementary age.
-Jazz would piss himself in protest for not being allowed to go into the girl's bathroom.
-One of Jazz's childhood best friends called him out and said he was a selfish brat. Jazz broke up their friendship.

-Most people that Jazz tries to befriend seem genuinely creeped out/disgusted by him. The book demonizes them of course.
-Jazz wakes up his parents to tell them that he french-kissed two girls.
-Jazz's friends were obsessed with Stephen King's It and Jazz was convinced they were talking about him.
-There's a sad Q&A with Jazz's family at the end as well as some genuinely depressing family pictures.
-Ari laments not getting one on one time with her mom anymore. Misery.

That's the most I could glean quickly off the top of my head. Overall, lots of really creepy moments. Jazz comes off like someone either touched him or he's legit autistic. It's really quite horrifying.
