Was there for the drive-by today. Interesting gathering.
Staying at a Doubletree downtown. It's a little bit of a hike to Bethesda, decided to do some sight-seeing for most of the day. Empty, dead city with souleless denizens wandering the remains. Black Lives Matter Square reminds me of Tahrir Square in a lot of ways, has that smell of sulfur you get when you mix sweat and exhaust. Police in DC drive with their emergency lights on all the time, threw me off walking past police cars. Had lunch someplace outdoors and it felt like someone was going to walk up demanding I praise Communists the whole time. Really put me on edge being here.
Heard the Maryland GOP was organizing something at the hospital around 5. Decided to get there around that time, thought I'd hear some speakers. Parked at the same pubic garage and made my way to the event.
Wisconsin Avenue runs North / South, and I was on the West Side. On the East Side was the mini-Trump gathering, there were maybe 200 people there went I got there. Every group that's for Trump was represented.
I was on the West side, along with a ton of media. At least 50 people were set up with cameras, heard a lot of accents from all around the world. I walked just past the group on the East side, there was a raised embankment with day tents set up. These were the media VIPs, they had their own security who told me to get off the embankment.
I was there for about 10 minutes, trying to figure out how to get to the East side. Then the police shut off traffic. Everyone was wondering what was about to happen, lots of media scrambling.
Then 6 Black SUVs passed by the East side. They went slowly, people were screaming. They drove off, then they came back around on the West side.
I was about 10 feet from Trump. Beaming smile, big thumbs up from within the windows. Either he was on Coke or the Covid isn't doing much to him. Something about the way he looked in the low sun made him look like Donkey Kong.
This was right at 5. Afterwards, people were cheering for the police and shouting BLUE LIVES MATTER. There was a lot of conversation about whether he went back to the White House afterwards. No one really knew anything.
I didn't see signs that anyone was setting up to speak, so I just left. No reason to stay, nothing was going to top that. Proof of life and all media lies.
