To be fair, there were some people like Ron Paul and Ben Garrison, who thought the whole thing was a hoax to begin with. But that's definitely a testament to how divided and partisan the United States has become. To the point where we can't even organize a response to a pandemic, which you'd think would be a bipartisan issue.
It also shows how little Americans trust the government in a post-9/11 world. I think this really is the consequence of 30 years of shady shit the government has done, from Waco to now, that eroded any sense of unity or trust towards the traditional institutions of the country. I gotta wonder how this same government, and the American public, as it is today would have faired against the Spanish Flu a hundred years ago.

The thing is that we don't know his behavior in the hospital. His photos of him signing stuff and "working" were obviously staged (signing a blank sheet of paper, photos were taken 10 minutes apart via EXIF data). We also don't know what treatment he got since the doctors keep contradicting themselves and Trump's staff. He obviously wasn't in a coma or anything, but he could've been sucking oxygen for all we know.

Also, covid will start to get better and then can hit even harder. He's still early in the diagnosis. His prognosis looks promising, but we don't know for sure yet.

I don't disagree, but I also witnessed a mass of libtards telling me it was no worse than the flu and that being scared of the virus was racist and that there was no need to close travel to China. It felt like when pictures started coming out of Italy the left flipped over to taking it serious and when the lockdowns started the right flipped to, "It's just the flu open everything back up." The flip flopping viewpoints kind of make sense when you consider the political views of both sides. The left has been harping on racism to a fault and any suggestion that something related to non-whites may be a problem is hearsay, and the right generally believes in personal freedoms and the market, so when those were threatened they flipped.

Personally, I live in a place where they locked down the borders hard. No one who doesn't live here is allowed in besides essential workers and people who are granted an exemption. Returning residents, workers and people granted exemptions have to present an isolation plan and contact info or they're put right back on the fucking plane and sent away.

Guess what? We have four active cases, all people who came in from outside. No community spread for months. We have mask rules and distancing guidelines in place, but I can go to the movies or eat out or take my kids to the playground with minimal risk. Fuck I went the the carnival with my kids last month and play some carny games and got on carny rides. Not one case sprung from the carnival. Halloween is going ahead as scheduled. Life is pretty well going on as normal outside of travel at this point.

Countries in the Western hemisphere could have nipped this in the bud by shutting down non-essential international travel back in January or February and making everyone who had been travelling and their close contacts isolate for a month or so and the rest of the economy could have stayed open, and we could have rode this out until a vaccine was found while Europe and Asia burned but we were too retarded.
