The reason the social democracy model works in those places is because it's explicitly not socialist. It starts and stops at a strong social safety net and worker focused legal protections. One of the tricks we use in Sweden is having a low corporate tax in order to lure corporations here and using a high income and sales tax in order to fund the welfare state.
