Yeah, they were ment to show kids that people can get along and be friends with others that are very different. You don't need like same things, have same opinions or even understand eachother all the time, you can still have fun together. Very universal, nothing to do with sexuality of any short, becouse it's for very young kids. Still no denying that the gay jokes are long standing and some writers have come out saying that they wrote the two from gay point of view.

Yeah, there was some tumblr post where a Sesame Street writer was like "no Ernie and Bert aren't gay" then realized how many gay people connected with them and was like "well okay that makes sense," I guess I kind of thought that made it canon or something. I'm not little anymore so I'm not really up on my Sesame Street these days, lol.

Jetta (with the black hair) is black in the comics, and the show creator wanted to make her black initially, but she ended up white in the original show. So naturally let's draw all the old TV show designs BUT just throw black skin onto white!Jetta because wOkE. Can't even draw modern Jetta. tsk.

oh god this sucks so badly. I had a punk friend in class once who was conservative and he wasn't too keen on LGBT. You don't have to be for LGBT and all that bullcrap just to be considered punk.
