Netflix is a business that will give just about any movie a shot if it makes them more money. They'd gladly show "A Serbian Film" if it meant more revenue in their pockets.

Although I don't see how they're being "woke" with this. I know it's a thing to shit on the left but not everything that happens like this is due to strictly leftist mores. Just like not everybody who's on the right is a nazi, not everybody on the left is some SJW woke warrior trying to pull down the pillars of society. That tends to be a small, but vocal, minority. And the problem is we have a tendency to take what that minority says and apply it with a broad brush to everybody.

But if you want to cancel your membership over that then that's your choice. Get enough people to do so and it will hurt their bottom line and they will either stick to their guns and go under or they will change tactics, get rid of their CEO and install somebody new who's more in line with what their viewers want. Personally I'm willing to wait and see what the end result of all this is and I've got the popcorn ready to go.

They're actively defending it, denying that it's child pornography, and using all the usual woke-isms to immunize it from criticism. I believe they also designed the "look how sexy this little girl is!" poster/cover art for the American release. Hypersexualizing children is definitely a leftist thing.

One doesn't have to be woke to defend the movie on it's technical merits or message it's trying to give namely that "this is bad". While I agree that they're going about it all wrong, I'm not seeing any "wokeness" about it. I think that's just the easiest label to apply to them in today's hyper-partisan world.

Yeah, but no. That's not a right or left thing. That's a sick thing and those people exist on both sides. There's no need to always bring politics into every single issue that might show up. It's as stupid as bringing up religion, sexuality or the color of somebody's skin.

I actually canceled my Netflix membership over a year ago when they published that movie with the child orgy scene. I guess I'm not surprised they went down hill from there, but I definitely feel justified in my choice after this.

Just like video games don't let you hurt child characters, some things are simply off limits no matter what. Netflix needs to learn that and the entire group of co-conspirators that participated in this movie's release need to see a prison cell.

They did have A Serbian Film on the site, up until their license for it ran out. As to whether they chose not to renew it for content reasons or because it wasn't worth the money to re-license, I couldn't tell you.
