I'd say that there were three stages that Comicsgate went through as an autistic comic book revolutionary movement. There is not one Comicsgate, there are at least three comicsgates.
The first was the reactionary stage , where a bunch of people like Douglas Ernst, Diversity & Comics, Yellowflash, Cummings, Just Some Guy and others were reacting to what they saw from the mainstream, including abusive creators, substandard product, silencing of criticism, enforced political messaging and inefficient and dying business model. But while there was plenty of consensus that these problems existed, there was little regarding how to remedy them.
Second was the activist stage, when it was felt that boycotts and criticism weren't resulting in change and action was needed. But what kind of action specifically? Vox Day and others felt that far-right content and creators was needed to balance the far-left political hegemony in the comic book establishment. Warcampaign drew people who were drawn to a message based on customer respect absolutism. Then there were more people who sided with free speech absolutism, or supporting Christian content and creators as well as those who were constructivists that argued that only a functioning, superior business model could conceivably triumph over the existing order, a philosophy held most notably Frog, Zack and Mitch Breitweiser.
Third is the current, developed stage, where Frog's specific interpretation eventually came out on top in this contest of what was the best way to go about things,, and the remaining differences now being narrowed to cliques and competing schools of thought. The latest innovation popping up right now is celebrity collaboration with Expendables, BRZRKR and Brice's unnamed project.
