Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? I can think of one reason: release information that's damaging but not a killshot first to see how the Dems and their puppets respond to it. The response so far has shown a lot of the cards in their hand. The tech companies have taken unprecedented action to suppress the information and, as with Nixon, the coverup has become more scandalous than the crime. If more damaging information was available, it would make sense to reveal it while Jack and Zuck are in the middle of getting subpoenaed and the Dem defenders are on the back foot.
