Worth remembering is that the ranch is in the literal middle of nowhere - they don’t have an electric bill nor could have one if they wanted to. I would guess that Kev pays his way at the ranch with the tugboat first, then spends the rest on porn (hahaha why bother, eunuch) and children's toys, never considering he would have to pay actual MONEY to get a valid service from a contributing member of society.

But that aside, the ranch funding thing drives me insane when I read this thread. WHERE is the money actually coming from, and why are people sponsoring this?

As far as I can tell, there are three pools of money going into the ranch. 1) Contributions from the people who live there 2) Earned income (labor and sales) and 3) Gibs.

All 3 would vary to some extent, with 1 probably being the most reliable (there's a core group that's been around long enough to establish an expected minimum), and 2 being the one they (should be) working towards living off of annually. But a lot of me wonders how much category 3 plays into this whole thing. On the podcast, Penny bragged about a huge donation. Maybe they're still living and operating off of that? There just has to be some larger contributions from the gibs than they're saying.

Outside of donations, I just can't make sense of how they're doing what they're doing with what I assume to be minimal income from the work they do and the farm they operate. It's not like they're a big player in the alpaca, uh, wool market or whatever. If that's even a thing. And I doubt they're exactly bursting at the seams for handyman work. Most people in their area would have to be extremely self-reliant, it's kind of requirement when you live in an area that didn't have any paved roads until the 60s, and remains largely unpaved today. So, if I had to make a guess about the work that's available to them based off of that, it would more or less be "fill-in" or spot work. As far as I remember, none of them are licensed plumbers, electricians, or etc, which would limit that income to a cash-only kind of thing. Kind of like how you would pay a neighbor kid $20 for mowing your lawn or whatever. I mean, you don't start a side recycling business because you're flush with cash.

So based off of that info-supported guesswork, I'm to believe they just have the money to buy another new property with more buildings and then, like, maybe expand their current house, and build greenhouses, and buy wind power and battery cells, and do ALL OF THIS at the same time that Kev spends hundreds every month on the gayest shit possible, AND while now more than one person at the ranch is reduced to literal begging to pay (supposed) medical bills AND while each of them periodically undergoes very expensive elective cosmetic surgery and then spends months or years off their feet? I mentioned this upthread but my personal theory is credit card bills. No way a mindless consumer like Kevin doesn’t have a CC. It explains why he can simultaneously buy a bunch of dumbass toys and still be cash poor and not able to pay certain bills that you can only play with debit.
