Some of those gimmick accounts were fantastic though, like Lovecraftian Journal Poster. Especially when he/they would just bust into a thread with a snippet of pastiche Lovecraft that had nothing to do with the topic on hand (though sometimes it did). Very well written though.
My other favorite was Adventures of Jesus. Wish those old gimmick posts were coallated somewhere.
If I was clever I'd turn this doublepost into a gimmick post, but I found my mind slowly turning, turning within the confines of the post box. A shrieking from the distance, which grew louder and louder. Was it in my head? What Eldritch horrors bursting forth from the blackened ruins around me could cause such a frightening din? Staggering back, the blackness of space all around me, orange lines of shapes and words in the distance, I could feel my mind slipping away. God!--Great God! WAS THIS CYCLOPEAN NIGHTMARE COMING TRUE!
Then, as quickly as it came upon me, it was gone. The globular torso—the bubble-like suggestion of a head—the three fishy eyes—the foot-long proboscis—the bulging gills—the monstrous capillation of asp-like suckers. Vanished as though they were never there.
