Maybe. I have enough muscle mass built up, I need to work on lowering my BMI/body fat percent. Usually it takes more repetitions of lower amounts of weights to do this.

Not to derail the thread too much but I can't deny people input on lifting because I've trained and worked with a lot of people over the years (especially women).
Low weight and lots of reps will still build endurance (and strength to a lesser degree), but unfortunately ANY weightlifting is very ineffectual at burning calories and losing weight. Our bodies are astoundingly good at preserving energy when exerting short controlled bursts of strength. A mere 15 minutes of jumprope will usually burn more calories than 1-1.5 hours of heavy (or light) weightlifting, which is why it makes sense to separate weight-loss time from muscle building time (A lot of people attempt to combine them and get mediocre results at both, which can be a real motivation killer. Much better to do 1 month of just building muscle with heavy weights and 1 month of just cutting weight by doing nothing but cardio and reflexes and vice versa). As such, I retract what I said earlier and recommend going ahead with what you mentioned (cycling, triathlon) and waiting with any lifting at all (even low weights high reps) until you are approaching a weight you feel comfortable with. Maybe keep doing pull ups and push ups to make sure you're not burning through muscle too much as you lose weight.
