DSP has known for months that he needs to budget for these consoles. He has known for months, and, to be honest, a streamer with standards would probably be prepping for any console drop with stuffed away cash a year ahead of the launch. He has received hundreds of dollars every day combining tips, cheers, and gift subs. Even if he had to spend a premium on ebay or whatever, let's call it 600 bucks. That's like three normal days of streaming for him. I just... I don't understand how anyone can see this and not recognize how patently absurd this is. Where is all the fucking money going, Phil?
He specifically said he set money aside for the PS5 when he did the preorder, and that, if he were to get the XBox, he would need a significantly large surge in contributions specifically for that. He received $3000 in cheers a few days later, and another $3000 a few days after that. He then proceeded to leave it ambiguous as to if he could afford the consoles.

Now he just implied that if anything forces him to touch his savings in the next month, he will no longer be able to afford them, despite explicitly receiving a special donation that is 10x the value of the consoles.

Even with the mobile gaming, we're at a point where he would need a heroin addiction to justify what is going on with this money.

He just opened the YT video with tips begging, saying that, with the chargebacks he is 'strapped for tips'. I don't know what this supposed to mean, he clearly just didn't want to say 'strapped for cash' because that would be a lie. He also said he now needs to pay for the headphones this week. Before his break, that was a maybe. It still is a maybe, but it was solidified as fact while he was playing Champions.

He just said he needs to raise "as much as possible" for tuesday,he is not even hiding that he needs spending money.
It was during either the Street Fighter or Crash streams that I heard him bragging about going out and getting Takoyaki or Yakitori (can't remember which) at his local ramen restaurant. Reminder that DSP, who allegedly cannot afford basic bills and operating expenses, goes out to eat at a sit down restaurant at least once every week.

Wouldn't be a problem if he ran his business as a business. Split out the bank accounts, give yourself a salary and don't steal from the company. When the company has enough money it's spent on new games and upgrades. Or the company saves money to cover salaries during slow periods. Instead he empities the (PayPal) business account twice a day, transferring all money to himself and claims everything in life as an expense. DSP Scamming is not a person, it's an entity.

Complaining about buying groceries, paying off even more debt he's racking up and child support for Leanna shouldn't be the stream. Shouldn't be the pre-stream. That's not the business. I work for an outsource company and am, pretty sure, it's not a good idea to ask potential customers for money so I can go shopping. The viewer/consumer/customer is investing in a product. In my case it's <whatever_I _do> and DSP it's the stream. I get paid per day like him and have to set out a minimal living budget. I don't get chargebacks but there are days I have to work for free because someone messed up and I'm trying to keep the customer happy.

His situation isn't unique, but in DSP reality his stomach is flat and the universe revolves around him.

Leave it to a Mature Adult with a Business Degree to not even know how the fuck supply and demand work.
Yes he does.

He demands people supply him with money.

Phil doesn't want to dip into his peraonal bank account to buy things for his business. On the surface I guess that sort of makes sense. But then remember that during the bankruptcy it was revealed that he doesn't have a separate business account. And all his PayPal earnings are immediately taken out and deposited into his personal account. Literally everything Phil buys comes out of his personal bank account. Why is he saying he can't dip into his bank account and he needs tips, when the tips immediately go into his bank account?

Makes sense if you are a wheelchair, I guess.

How does he have headphones he allegedly hasn't paid for?

Did he... no, it's not possible... did he put them on a credit card? I mean that's the only method for you get stuff before you pay for it, right?

Could he really be this stupid?

(clears throat) Cup. Of. Noodles. With. A. Fork Spoon.

Does that answer your question?

And if he's telling the truth I can't think of an explanation that doesn't involve retardation - either it's a credit card/peer-to-peer lender with extortionate rates because his score is toast or he's in the red on his regular bank/PayPal account but there's some grace period before they charge a penalty (or God help him, freeze the account).

Looks like the writers are trying to redeem themselves, I hope nobody spoils the plot for Phil and tells him Chapter 7 is off limits until 2028!

EDIT: I got the joke wrong, it was with a spoon (thanks @tripmix)

I used to believe that what will eventually fuck DSP after the bankruptcy would be a medical emergency, but now, I think it's going to be his fucking spending habits. It feels like his spending has gotten worse since he "won" the bankruptcy, especially with the several months of the vest streak.

I'm not clear on the specifics, but there were preorders for the PS5 accessories along with the system and Phil ordered the PS5 headphones. The accessories are rumored to be processing faster, and will be charged and likely ship before the systems. So he doesn't actually have them yet, it's the preorder which is in limbo.

As to what he actually put the preorder on, or set it to charge to when it actually does, I don't know. That's a good question... a Visa/Debit card? Giftcards? Paypal?
I'm not sure how to that works, because I am but a mentally ill infant who has yet to go through the very adult process of being blackballed by every financial institution I've done business with.

This makes me rethink my post on how Phil buys everything out of his bank account. What if he is still using credit?

I could pay $600 for a new console now, or put it on credit and only pay $100 a month for 8 months. Obviously $100 is less than $600... I'd be saving $500! I'd be stupid not to use credit!

As long as his begging and whining continues to bring him triple digits a day at a minimum from naive idiots he will never outspend himself until a true emergency rears its head. There will be a medical bill or a broken major appliance and as soon as there is he will be completely forthcoming and ahnest about his sudden hardship and completely ignore questions about where his money went up to that point. When he truly has cause to panic he won't hide it.

ETA: I say "medical bill" as a possibility but Phil is absolutely the type of person to ignore collection agencies and tell whatever unlucky provider who treats him or Kat to go fuck themselves and just never pay them. Medical debt is one of the most common in the US not just because care is expensive and complicated but also because it's notoriously difficult to collect on.

An emergency won't hurt Phil financially.

"Mom! I need $5000 for my medical bill! Please! Yes, I am looking for a job, but I can't do it with this medical bill looming over my head! Thank you, if I could get down on my hands and knees I would! Yeah, just send cash in the mail, it's the safest way. I don't want trolls to track the wire transfer."

Oh you sweet summer child, do you know how he wound up with $100,000 in principal on the Connecticut condo after almost 11 years? He only paid once every three months, because that was the minimum to keep the bank from filing for foreclosure.

When MidFirst sued him late last year, I tried to back calculate the principal + interest rates that would have left him underwater after 10-plus years on the assumption he paid in full every month. Even with terms that no lender/mortgagee would agree to (it was something like 0% down and 10% APR!) I had him + or - breaking even.

EDIT: I know that you were joking about how Phil sees interest, but that's what he actually believes - when he announced the bankruptcy he called people idiotic for suggesting that paying more than the minimum could have kept things from getting out of control and insisted it was never the right move because this way he gets more money now.

It's not on CourtListener but MrHuth on Twitter found filings that broke out the amount owed to the CC companies by principal vs. interest-interest was a large chunk if not the majority and the projected "paid in full" date based on minimum payments was some time in the 2040s if I remember correctly :story:.

Today I asked on Phil stream chat something like "Do you guys really enjoy listening to Phil talk drivel for 1 hour on the pre-stream six times a week?" , a lot of people told me to not be negative but the responses that got my attention were the ones saying that its the best moment to chat. I imagine a bunch of retards posting GachiBass kekw and other stupid emotes for an hour, listening to some 38 year old autistic NEET talking drivel as they laugh in their rooms. You have to be a wheelchair to sit for 1 hour in front of your pc posting emotes while listening to Phil lie and beg and consider that having fun.
