Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

We need DIVERSE homeless people too:

The one thing I'm worried about is the announcement they're making it shorter than the Witcher 3, maybe it's true they got a lot of complaints about Witcher 3 being too long but it sounds like a bit of a cop out.
I heard they said they made the main quest shorter than Witcher 3 main quest. Because it was so long not many people finished it.

I think they will still have lots of side quests.

I don't get why everybody's worried about it being shorter than W3. Other than the combat, the big complaint was how fucking long the main story of that game was. The battle at Kaer Moren should have been the end of it, but you still had between a quarter and a third of the game to go.

And even if the game is significantly shorter than W3, the three player starts/archetypes should make multiple playthroughs fun enough to have another go.

Also it is fine if the main quest is shorter as long as there is a ton of side content to do that is interesting and diverse with different outcomes and options then it is all good.

Yes and that's a good thing. Games are getting more expensive, are shipped half finished and are less about games and more about "cinematic experiences", downgrades and GaaS nonsense.
If I have to pay 60-70 euros/dollars for a game, it better be playable and have 99% of its content available. I shouldn't have to wait 5 months to get all the content and 50% of the bugs/glitches fixed.

Cyberpunk 2077 could be a good game, it could also be a bad one. I don't want to see a bunch of e-celebs, Soylent enthusiasts and Funhaus cunts in the actual video game. I'm fine if they advertise the game on their individual plaftforms though.
Do you think that it was a good thing to have BattleTits in Mass Effect 3, Geoff Keighley and a bunch of Hollywood people in Kojimbo's Amazon delivery game?
The cameos in Death Stranding were fun.

The main story in W3 was indeed too long.

I honestly can't recall anyone complaining about the Witcher 3 being too long, nor can I imagine a reason why someone would complain about a story-heavy game being too long.

I was able to play Witcher 3 for an hour after work. Maybe another five over the weekend. I got the game launch day at the end of May, and I only beat the game in August. Almost three months and I was playing the game nearly every day. I can't even fucking remember what color my shirt is that I'm wearing right now, how can I enjoy a story fully when it relies on content I was told months ago?

I'm expecting some Blade Runner and GITS references tbh

By not being retarded lol. If we're being boomers about it, remember how TV shows, comics, and other such media would have a new episode once a week if you're lucky? Somehow weebs can remember something that happened years ago in One Piece taking in 30 minutes a week and little old ladies can remember years of General Hospital or whatever.

Like a 12 episode anime can last that long and if someone said "What? How can I enjoy this finale when the first episode was 12 weeks ago?" everyone would assume the guy complaining was legitimately mentally deficient. Because its a dumb complaint.

A game can go on too long, but that only really happens if either they've clearly run out of ideas and are padding it, clearly run out of time and are rushing it, or the storing they're telling has poor pacing and should move faster. The game providing you more playtime is a dump complaint. If you get bored of it you can always put it up until you want to play again, you don't have to play a game in a single sitting or once a day or whatever.

We're officially a month away from the release if they don't delay anything again. Waiting to see how this turns out and how powerful a PC is gonna have to be to run this game with everything that's in it, honestly. The game being shorter than Witcher 3 isn't an issue for me, still looks pretty story heavy.

RetardEra is on a roll with their hot takes as of late, check out their tread for more.
"It might be time to accept CD Projekt Red might be a bit conservative"
They say that like it's a bad thing.

1. It's gone gold, so barring some apocalyptic event it's probably coming out on time.
2. They released the specs a few weeks ago:

For what it's worth, there were quite a few comments saying they wanted hot young male romances "for the gays" so I'm assuming most people with this issue are either twinks or women who have twink fetishes.
Honestly i was hoping for one of the male romances to be hot.I guess I can be in the gay twink category but so far non of the men, beside Johnny, are all the impressive most look so disheveled and old.

Are gamers harsher on games than they used to be? Everyone loves Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines (and I do too) despite the fact that the combat is total fucking garbage.

Fallout New Vegas is another beloved classic that was glitchy as hell upon release, didn't stop gamers and myself included from loving the game though.

Judging a game as more than the sum of it's parts is what should be done, but it seems weird to me that that isn't extended to more games more often, so many great games get people crying "overrated!" at the drop of a hat.

Of course to be fair what both V:tm Bloodlines and NV have in common is... good writing, for all the technical aspects of gaming we are too quick to forgot how much writing matters, good writing can absolutely makes flaws worth overlooking and hopefully Cyberpunk 2077 will be a well written game.
Well, with the budgets, technology, total number of games and all sorts of other things soaring in the intervening years, it's not surprising expectations have skyrocketed, because potential has as well. (There's a debate to be had about the rising costs and development requirements, but I digress.)
