Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Hooo boy, the tranny issue rears it's fucking head again. What kind of sperg gets this upset over innocuous shit like a FAKE ADVERTISEMENT IN A VIDEO GAME.

The lack of self awareness is palpable and hilarious. Would also like to know what these "incredible works of cyberpunk fiction" are that were apparently tranny-made, and no, fanfics don't count.

I was always under the impression that preference for older men was the rule rather than the exception. Even more so, given the abundance of obvious daddy issues.
For what it's worth, there were quite a few comments saying they wanted hot young male romances "for the gays" so I'm assuming most people with this issue are either twinks or women who have twink fetishes.

People want to be offended by everything, hence the ridiculous claims being made.

Cyberpunk is based on transhumanism where the body is no longer considered sacred but profane.

So now that the game is getting pretty close to the release dates what's everyone's thoughts on this? Smash or pass? I'm kind of seeing some indicators both ways.
I'm firmly in the "wait until a couple of days after release" camp. The crunch doesn't necessarily worry me, but the ongoing complaints from ex-employees does a bit. The constant removal of features on the path towards release concerns me as well. I'm happy to be wrong, but I want to see evidence before putting my money towards it.

I'm worried about
  • The open-world elements
  • The shooting mechanics
  • atmosphere and theme
  • vehicles and how they play into the world
  • too much focus on gay overpaid actors
  • not enough freedom of play (stealth vs run and gun)
  • not enough roll play elements
  • not enough interesting side stories
  • not enough interesting real-world parallels
  • not enough interesting factions with +'s and -'s
  • not enough homeless

With how hyped to all fuck this game is, a lot of people are going to be disappointed just because it isn't literally the second coming of Christ. As long as it has decent gunplay, good writing, and has the cyberpunk aesthetic matter more than Deus Ex's set dressing, I'll be happy.

I guess that's a benefit of not caring as much. Witcher 1 and 3 are in my top 5 games, and even then they both have asterisks.

Not gonna lie, I'm hyped as fuck.

I'm trying not to get too hyped, but I just hope the game delivers on the overall "vibe" of being a Cyberpunk and if so I can forgive some flaws like say the combat isn't the greatest ala W3.

I haven't followed the hype pretty much zippo.

Gonna pick it up though because we need more Cyberpunk rpgs out there.

So long as the writing & quests are solid and the visuals & atmosphere are impressive I'll probably be satisfied with the game.

I think my biggest worry is the last stretch of the game sucking. RPGs, quest and story focused ones in particular, often fall apart during the last fourth or so. I think New Vegas was the last game of this sort that I liked the end game of.

Gotta be honest, i was mostly worried about my enjoyment being influenced by all the "bad blood" im seeing about the game online. Try as i might to ignore it social pressure is a bitch and i can't pretend it has no sway over me.

But then i picked up Death Stranding of all things, the most shittalked game this year(?) and im having a good time with it. If i can ignore shitposting about an "objectively bad" game then i guess im good to go.

Never had any worries for 2077 myself and i'm not up for inventing any.

I wonder whether anything from the infamous v3 edition of the Cyberpunk tabletop game will be referenced or if that has been retconned out entirely.

I highly doubt it given the original creator's involvement with 2077 and his professed dislike of v3

If only White Wolf would officially retcon V5 and the bulk of Revised Edition's metaplot and do a hard reboot of the World of Darkness, then we could get more quality RPG's and a sequel to Bloodlines that's actually worth a damn.

This. CDPR have made a rod for their own backs by riding the hype train for so long. I'll be honest, I really am looking forward to it. But it can't live up to the impossible hype generated for it. And because of this it will be the WORST GAME EVER.

Isn't a hard reboot of WoD just nWoD?

"Desnai" was kind of an interesting idea, but the rest was pretty dumb, so that's a good thing.

Any game with any sufficient amount of hype, let alone one with as much as Cyberpunk, is going to get people taking potshots at it, it's not reflective of the actual quality of the game.

Considering the lack of cyberpunk stuff out there, the game will sell like hotcakes as long as it isn't a total turd and nails the aesthetic. So far CDPR has ticked off the latter box, now just waiting on the former. A month to go, Kiwis!

Speaking purely from an aesthetic standpoint it's actually incredible how perfectly they've nailed what you think of when you think "Cyberpunk", from an art direction standpoint it's some next level stuff.
