if you watch tevin's restream of Phil's 2018/2019 new year stream Phil tells a story about his old razor that could never hold a charge. he went on about how he'd have to shave half of his beard plug in the razor, shower, shave the other half plug in the razor again, dry himself, then trim his beard. he said all this to talk up his Christmas present from kat which was a new razor. however, after seeing recent pics of his half shaved facial hair i think either she never got him a new razor or the new razor broke and hes too cheap to buy another one so he dug the old one out of the nook because we know phil never throws anything that he paid money for away.
Maybe he really did have a stroke

100%. It's only a matter of time before there's this stratification between the smaller streamers with passionate niche audiences (classic games, 4X, Dwarf Fortress) and a group of high profile streamers bound to game publishers under certain restrictions. Not saying I agree this should be the case, but it's inevitable. I mean, even indie developers can easily put some kind of streaming share clause. Someone's gotta start paying for all the bandwidth and Twitch is running out of places to stuff ad buys.

It's also a way to control reviews. If publishers only let high profile people, who they pay, stream their games then all the honest reviews are burnt seeded wholemeal toast with mayonnaise on. Once the industry figures that out it's lights out in Seattle.

The YouTube purge will be epic... or maybe YouTube will do a deal with publishers to take even more ad revenue from streamers, leaving craetors with literally nothing. Not much different than now (I assume).

During a particularly salty rant on pre-stream, he stated clearly that he can afford a green screen, new camera, and the new consoles. So any new begging related to that is forfeit, unless, by some BIZARRE OCCURRENCE all of that money got charged back! Wow, convenient, huh? Guess you just have to give him more money.

It's already happened to some degree. Persona 5 had restrictions on how far into the game you could stream in the weeks/months following launch. I think that stream embargos are going to become more common as standard AAA price is pushed up $10 and battle passes become more ubiquitous.

It's to be expected that Phil doesn't think before he talks about spending money he's supposed to pretend he doesn't have. Even if his paypigs refused to hand over the tips because he's blatantly lying to them about what he spends said tips on, he would just look for replacement whales. There are no consequences that will ever make Phil stop being a sleazebag.

What a fucking nigger
Agreed. Companies have no place trying to monetize what people do with their products once money has changed hands.

On the flipside, though, this would end streaming to a large degree, and streamers are obnoxious and it would be wonderful to see 99% of them forced into the workforce or kill themselves.

Thankfully, he works for Google Stadia so his opinion is as (ir)relevant as his console.
Also, yes, of course the developer for a system that requires a persistent high-speed internet connection and disallows the ownership or use of any physical media is in favor of a licensing system for streaming game software. No personal interest in that issue whatsoever.
