Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

I never got this talking point. Do these people even know its worth 3 EVs and always goes to the Democrats?
No, but then again, he'd be perfectly happy to never have the Republicans control anything ever again. And he bitches about the two party system, lol.

By any chance does he really mean he wants a one party system or a faux one where both opponents are democrats like in California?

So with ACB's confirmation tonight, I tried talking to a TDS suffering family member. It honestly wasn't worth it. He got so emotional over politics it was shocking.

1) We should abandon the Constitution because the men who wrote it were slave owners. They had no concept of modern life, so we should just wholesale throw it away. That was his justification of removing one of the best written forms of government that allowed us to be a super power in just 200 years. Some of the best thinkers in all of history put it together. Note, he wants to wholesale get rid of it.
2) Believes we should be a completely direct Democracy. I tried to tell him that we're a Republic and switching forms of government isn't easy, but he doesn't care.
3) Massively pump up the taxes on the rich. I tried to warn him that they'll just leave and he said 'good'. He felt that they could be replaced and I was honestly astonished to think that he could just substitute the money and revenue from Amazon by someone else who would develop it. Like, that tax revenue is just gone. You're talking about jobs and carving holes in our economy left and right.
4) Abolish the electoral college. He's still salty over Trump winning. I tried to warn him that this would probably threaten the Union and that this would only change how campaigning was done, it wouldn't guarantee his people would win.
5) Pack the court. He thinks that ACB nomination is court packing. His argument basically boiled down to 'Its not fair Republicans have had the majority of Judges'. I tried to tell him this was extremely dangerous and that it wouldn't lead to anything good but he kept cutting me off. It seems like he didn't really know what court packing was, honestly.
6) Make D.C. a state. He said it had 8 million(?) people. It only has 700k. It also wouldn't change its electoral votes, but it would become basically 100% Democrat, which is why it would never get done.
7) Nationalism leads to fascism. It was kind of baffling. But what he really meant was jingoism, which is a militant form of nationalism.

It was just these Democrat talking points and he got very emotional. Hell, one thought I was actually a pure Republican. Sorry I'm not fully indoctrinated and have a mind of my own. He still believes snopes and shit like that, which is hysterical. Not to mention half of this shit would NEVER get done by the DNC. I tried telling him that too, but again, he still wanted to vote for Biden. You have to vote for what's in front of you. Not what you wish for on a star.
Does this person have emotional problems or just low IQ.

That being said I am contractually obligated to say, "Fuck you Mitt Romney." I appreciate him voting the way that he did tonight, but still, fuck Mitt Romney.
Don't worry Romney only voted the way he did because he knows if he voted no he would get absolutely eviscerated in his election.

Additional responses to Chelsea Handler ordering 50 Cent back to the plantation
Imagine being so deluded that you think saying "I will marry you and let you fuck my stretched old pussy." to a Rich Black Man will get him to do what you want.

They'd get representatives and two more senators at least. And those would be guaranteed D seats.

That's the practical upshot of it, and I'm fine with Republicans opposing it on purely partisan grounds.

As for the principle of the issue, not a single Democrat has ever given an argument that overcomes the original reasons why the Founders thought it was necessary to have a non-state entity host the seat of government. Federalist 43 remains un-answered.

"The indispensable necessity of complete authority at the seat of government, carries its own evidence with it. It is a power exercised by every legislature of the Union, I might say of the world, by virtue of its general supremacy. Without it, not only the public authority might be insulted and its proceedings interrupted with impunity; but a dependence of the members of the general government on the State comprehending the seat of the government, for protection in the exercise of their duty, might bring on the national councils an imputation of awe or influence, equally dishonorable to the government and dissatisfactory to the other members of the Confederacy.

This consideration has the more weight, as the gradual accumulation of public improvements at the stationary residence of the government would be both too great a public pledge to be left in the hands of a single State, and would create so many obstacles to a removal of the government, as still further to abridge its necessary independence.

The necessity of a like authority over forts, magazines, etc. , established by the general government, is not less evident. The public money expended on such places, and the public property deposited in them, requires that they should be exempt from the authority of the particular State. Nor would it be proper for the places on which the security of the entire Union may depend, to be in any degree dependent on a particular member of it.

All objections and scruples are here also obviated, by requiring the concurrence of the States concerned, in every such establishment."

This objection exactly predicted our current situation, when DC became the richest, fastest growing city during the Great Recession, becoming a major nationwide hub for wealth and technology as so many government agencies were run out of there.

And that first paragraph is especially relevant in a year when the DC mayor let GOP convention goers and Senators be chased down the street and attacked by political mobs.

What did Yahoo! ever do to kill free speech. If anything they deserve a medal for driving Tumblr into the ground.

As the runup to the Iraq war showed, the democrats can be as jingoistic with the best of them.

Imagine thinking the shitzillionaires with almost infinite resources, backed by nearly every major corporation and media outlet, and actively censoring any opposition are the plucky underdogs
In comparison to the faction that arose from "thunderous applause" by it's base to screw everyone over, driving multiple subfactions to death through glorified suicide, destroying any and all mention of their illicit dealings so that no one can ever come close to their capacity, all for some deceript husk of a human being that wanted power.

Oh and don't forget the update where there's apparently CLONES of said decrepit husks who also clones other, unrelated decerepit husks/crack addicts, for some reason.

Anyone who thinks like this should try living in the capitol of Venezuela, or try to live in some shit-kicker dirt farming town in Cuba. Almost literally too fucking stupid to live, holy shit.

Please tell me this family member is 18-21? This is pants on head, young idealistic communist levels of retard.

Seriously that crap puts Alex Jones to shame, not because it's complete BS, but because it actually seems to be true.

Alex Jones is a goddamn lightweight who doesn't go far enough, no wonder he has to turn to shilling Trump to keep food on the table.

Even if he gets four more years it's merely delaying the inevitable.

Their cities are more modern and have more modern conveniences like light rail, Xi has nothing but positive support of his people, their celluar network is better, and their media has nothing but positive things to say about their government.

Meanwhile america wastes too much time on partisan politics and people refuse to listen to what the experts supported by the media tell them what's really better for them and refuse to upgrade our cities because nbodoy wants to pay taxes.

Fuck me, I will stick up for the Yankistanis on this one, as our greatest allies.

Everything you listed is likely not quite true, but lets assume it is. Know what the greatest of things any human can have?

Freedom.

Try using those rail lines if your social score is not high enough because you once said you thought genocide of muslims was a bad idea. Or you used your tapped phone to send a dirty joke to a friend and now you cannot continue in your education. The media can only say good things about the government, because their is a death camp for those who do not.

Trump Derangement Syndrome really. The problem talking to him is that I can't have any positive or defend Trump to any remote degree or he'd just lose his shit. I've talked with family members who have hated or disliked Trump before and I was able to defend him or talk about him or challenge their notions about him, because they were open to it. If someone is rabid, I can't position myself as even remotely aligned with Trump otherwise everything else will just be ignored.
Anyone who thinks like this should try living in the capitol of Venezuela, or try to live in some shit-kicker dirt farming town in Cuba. Almost literally too fucking stupid to live, holy shit.
I mean, I tried warning him that you know, they could just buy other countries. Or that other countries would welcome them with open arms, but he didn't really care. I sort of gave up at that point, because nothing would convince him. Another family member who doesn't like Trump and is wavering for voting for Biden but is nowhere near this emotional about it actually listened in and said I thought I'd convince him. Which goes to show you how I didn't overwhelm him and tried very hard to be as emotionless and cool-headed as possible. Which he sort of interpreted as apathetic.
Please tell me this family member is 18-21? This is pants on head, young idealistic communist levels of retard.
Nope. Older than that. I think the problem is his girlfriend is extremely progressive and has been influencing him. And I USED to be extremely progressive, so there may have been vestiges of that leftover. I think a major part of the problem is that he really didn't have a liberal arts education. As much as people shit on it, it does help you to think and rationalize and provides you with a lot of things to draw on. He went to a school mainly for tech, so he never got that. So he really doesn't know how terrible Direct Democracy systems are. Nobody uses Direct Democracy. Nobody. He just doesn't understand that most people don't really care enough about politics and don't really have the time to, you know, go into the forums to debate and hear issues.

Him shitting on the founders really pissed me off. But unlike him, I don't get emotional about these things and tried to keep it level. Him wanting to get rid of the Constitution is fucking mind boggling. The document itself has inspired governments around the world. I also informed him that the Common Law system that we use is way older than that, along with the adversarial system of Justice. To no avail, really. Kind of surprised me at just how much he'd absorbed these progtard talking points. Since I have empathy, when I debate, I try to get into the mind of the person I'm debating against. The problem is, everything he talked about was something that there was no political will in the DNC to do. So there was this huge cognitive dissonance bashing these ideas together and I just didn't know what he was thinking. I pretty much concluded he had a Frankenstein idea of politics cobbled together from shitty news outlets and his friends. Because he acknowledged that the DNC and the Democrats sucked, but he was voting for them anyway.

That's why I just basically gave up, because he wasn't being rational at all. It was all emotional. Which is why I figured out he interpreted my dispassionate, rational debate as apathetic. He acknowledged there was no political will for the Dems to do anything he wanted. That Biden wouldn't touch on any of it, nor would the DNC. But he's voting for them anyway. So what could I do? There really isn't a point in trying to talk to someone like that. Its all emotion. I mean, I can't convince someone who is relying on pure emotion to make their political decisions. Just to avoid politics at all costs. I might try to encourage him to vote Green Party, just for my sanity. Because that would at least make rational sense.

Part of the major problem with him is that he really didn't seem that interested in politics until Trump got elected. So he didn't really go through the changes that I went through. I've also been involved in politics, debate, religious thought and such since I was in High School and before that. He's also the type to never want to admit he's wrong. So he basically just keeps moving the goal posts when you hit him with something. He'll move them out into the ocean before he admits he's wrong. So like I said, I just gave up. And politics isn't worth destroying relationships over.

But I can tell you, from that conversation: the shy Trump voter is real. I've only revealed my intention to one family member who is also voting Trump. Its like we have our own little knitting circle. And honestly, this will be my first time EVER in my life voting straight Republican. Because I possess independent thought and I can, you know, look and rationalize and think for myself.

And that's all you need. How can Trump be retarded and a mastermind at once? How, in 2 years, did they find nothing about Russia and he's still a Russian pawn even though everyone hates him? I don't understand how you can't see these inherent contradictions yourself and look into things deeper.
