A thought occurs... while I tend to believe the leaks rather than not, why have no smaller papers picked up the story? Obviously we can assume that cnn and MSNBC could be in a democrat's pocket, but why isn't the Macon county journal (or whatever) publishing stories on this? Remember there is no precedent (pardon the pun) for a nominee "leaving" between the parties convention and November. With this said; the 400+ members of the DNC would choose the replacement. In this case it would undoubtedly be the Ugandan Giant. Now "legally" Kamala's name must be put on all state ballots. Obviously this is impossibe so close to Nov 3rd. The SCOTUS would most likely take the matter up immediately and most certainly set precedent by waving Kamala through. You may ask yourself why? Welp, what the heck else can be done?

Actually there is Precedent for a Federal Election. It just has never happened to a Presudential Candidate. Senate Candidates have died between nomination and election. They remain on the ballot. In the case that they win (which has happened) the normal succession process occurs. In the case of the Dead Senator, the Governor gets a free choice. In the case of a Dead President the electors would still cast their votes for the dead guy and the Veep would succeed before the inauguration.

And that's the mistake. Most informed right leaning people get their info from the internet not newspapers. There are no newspapers large or small that serve red constituencies. In the early 2000's the right moved to the blogosphere. And talk radio is a thing. Boomers, young and old, watch Fox.

The right's sphere of influence is talk radio and the internet not newspapers, which could be your answer as to why no papers are reporting on it.

Like I've explained, it's a really really long and complicated story when you get beyond "lol footjobs".
It's getting coverage in more long form stuff like radio and tv, but papers, even if we assume there's The Wichita Elephant or whatever make believe paper there is, they can run three different crazy things Joe Biden did in the space where they would barely get through half of the start of explaining how any of this has been found out, much less trying to get into what did or didn't happen (much of which is "a really sincere guy says a crackhead said this")
