I've been keeping this bit of speculation to myself but since Chris's e-begging keeps coming up I might as well propose my theory. Basically I think he has either been coached or has looked up some vague advice to keep E-begging till he hits an arbitrary threshold. The idea being that once you hit that threshold you can ease up on the spam and it will snow ball from there. I've seen variations on this sort of advice across platforms. The idea being that even if you have mediocre content, that a consistent release schedule and constant self promotion will be able to boost your numbers and your fanbase will start to grow on its own. It completely ignores the idea of creating a strong foundation for a fanbase and natural growth, but in the short term makes people who want to "make it" happy.

I promised to hold off on calvin and hobbes sperging, but even at face value you can end up with a much deeper take than calvin was a jerk.

Here, Calvin is a jerk because he is literally 6 years old, and his only friend is a stuffed tiger. He is under stimulated and has an over active imagination. He likes being outside and usually dislikes people.

Bob has always fancied himself part of "The Clique", a close knit circle of game journalists, film critics, and other professional opinion-havers. He's rubbed shoulders with Devid Farci, Anita Sarkeesian, Jim Sterling, and others as well.

But Bob was never part of that scene. He was tolerated for his platform, but as soon as he got fired from the Escapist the first time, they suddenly stopped returning his calls. Maybe this is why he's devastated every time someone from the breadtube clique shits on him.

Chris seems to be the next step along that track. He's trying the clique's patreon donation hustle, but he's 8 years too late and doesn't have the clout to get into the circular donation scheme. It's like he's a cargo cult progressive. He's building the planes and the runways (virtue signalling, e-begging), but the cargo never comes.

I'm honestly surprised he hasn't been banned yet with all the shit that he's said. Has none of it been reported? Really? I'm not saying we need to report him, but I am surprised at how much protection that little blue check mark affords. Unless he really is so small nobody bothers.
