You know I used to think that Connor's whole adoption thing was just him trying to be edgy, since his argument was always "Why would anybody ever do something nice for someone else without expecting a benefit, because the world is evil and people are horrible". But reading this, I dunno. I think it's perceptions of the deficiency of his own childhood and upbringing that make him hypersensitive to potential problems in some fictional baby's upbringing. And I really do mean hypersensitive, because he's worried that she seems wealthy and has a big house.

I wonder what a good parent looks like to Connor? Somebody who does nothing except sit at home and care for their child full time? (Does he expect this from fathers, too?)

There was one post where he went to his father for medical advice, which he turned away in disgust because his father is a paramedic. Granted, the best type of medical question to ask a first responder is the "Is this an emergency/do I need to go to the doctor for this" type of question. But it has that same weird paradoxical quality. A fictional woman's having a lot of money to take care of a kid with (put aside for college? have in the bank in case of medical condition that requires frequent copays? enroll kid in private school ideal for his needs?) upsets him, and his dad's being a paramedic somehow makes his health advice less valuable. It's like Bizarro World in Connor's cranium.

This is a side note, but I haven't watched that movie since the year it came out. Was it ever established that Vanessa Loring had a job? Seriously. Maybe it was the husband who had the amazing killer job, in which case Vanessa is going to get some amazing killer alimony and child support for a few years to get her by until she can afford to purchase the kind of tiny, drafty, Iconoclast-worthy shack that Connor considers more appropriate for child-rearing, and then get a job which will not be high-paying at all, I guess? And that will be better? Help me out here. Pieces of my brain are falling off.

It's been awhile since I actually read that post, but I recall interpreting it as Connor being upset that his dad told him that nothing was physically wrong with his dick, he was just masturbating too much or something.

...I'm sorry, what.

He's actively looking for reasons to not like the adoption thing, and the way he wrote it it sounds like he views her badly wanting a child as a terrible thing.
(And for god's sake, Connor, you even stated that she really fucking loves her son. This is not a child that's going to go unloved and he won't have to worry about going without, no matter how you try to twist it.)

On further thought, the real stupidity of Connor's take on adoption is not that he's so incredily anti-adoption, it's that he seems to think that you can understand everything that needs to be understood about adoption by watching Juno, a not-terribly-good middlebrow film from almost ten years ago.

That's like somebody having a debate about divorce that exclusively revolves around Sweet Home Alabama.

Connor, fuck man, I'm here enjoying my own new life and "recovering lolcowdom" that I don't even know why I'm attempting to appeal to you again, but whatever.

The other day, I fell for a prank involving a "secret party" and was told how to get in. Well, later, the person who told me this was called a "Dream Seller" by one of my friends.

A few days later, I tell the same person "I don't need that guy to make me famous."

This is the type of mindset you should have, you know, but you're just too stubborn to move. Are you going to wait until you're 25, like I was, to decide something must be done? I wished I made that decision at 20 my self.

When I get my computer fixed (which takes a long time in my country because shit takes too long to get done) I'm gonna take the cyber world by storm with my creativeness. Fanfics, Karaoke recordings, I got a series of 5 episodes planned reviewing "80s Operas". I'm gonna record them, release em, and see where it goes from there.

What is your plan? Do you even own a simple Kettlebell yet? Or do you just continue sitting on your ass watching Hamtaro?

I can't believe I'm doing this, but fuck it, I'm back. I wanted to let you guys know I'm almost through reading All Quiet on the Western Front, and that I've calmed down about the whole Null situation. By the way, hello @Smutley .
And the Connor Cycle rolls on.

Have you every considered taking a creative writing class? I think it might be a good experience for you.

What's your opinion on the book thus far?
