Food and shelter are also required for life. Should the government be required to pay for everyone's food and rent?I mean... Isn't "Life" listed as one of those "Inalienable rights" in the declaration of independence?
Life is an essential right, therefore you are entitled to the things that will allow you to continue life.
Like healthcare.

Right next to "life" is listed "the pursuit of happiness." Filipino schoolboys make me happy, so should the government be required to provide me with Filipino schoolboys?
You can cry "reductio ad absurdum" but a line needs to be drawn somewhere. I'm for drawing the line at a point that doesn't involve reducing my choice, increasing my taxes, and reducing the rights of others..
