It didn't work because the government refused to allow it, the exact same scenario that I expect to play out this time. I want a world where the lefty cities swelter in their Communism for a few generations before they come crawling back to the rest of America after realizing how hard they fucked up, and I know I'm not going to get it. But even if separating only delays the inevitable it means that 1: they were given every chance to not turn this into a war, and 2: that at least it will be a proper international war and not the sheer monumental clusterfuck of a proper Rhodesia-style civil war we are currently primed for.

The reason I believe if just 1 state was declared suspect, it shift the entire game, is because of the narrative.

It becomes "Trump is a sore loser" and "Its over, stop fighting," to "Wait a second, there's proof" and "we got a shot." Republican legislatures will have more motivation to ask for full audits of their election. The 40% of Trump voting doomers will be emboldened to stick their local legislatures to the fire to get what they want. If anything, this helps run out the clock.

And the media will go crazy. It'll go from smug to crying coup and fascist.
