Indeed. Also, that 29% number seems off. The majority of agriculture and the entire energy industry is less than a 1/3 of the country’s GDP?
There's a good reason for this discrepancy and it's not because of the journo, but it does show that the journo is a piece of shit.
Quite simply. They're taking into account where business claim to make the money, not where they obtain the produce from.
In other words. Let's say a petrol company obtains oil from texas, then refines it in iowa, sells the plastics to washington and ships the fuel to new york. Quick question: where does this company make the money? Well if you answered any of the priorly mentioned states, you're probably wrong. The answer is wherever their HQ is. And more importantly: Wherever their CLAIMED HQ is. Because even if, say, most of their office buildings were in North Carolina, that wouldn't make their HQ North Carolina. A company's HQ only needs to have a mailbox to recieve letters to for it to count as HQ, it's just where the company CLAIMS it is located. Which is why, in fact, the most likely answer to the previous question is 1209 North Orange Street in Wilmington, Delaware. That tiny building only containing the machine to be a post office claims to be the HQ to 300.000 north american businesses. If you're wondering why, it's tax laws, answer as always is fucking tax laws. But yeah, that address has the world record for most businesses in a single building, despite not having the size to contain even one of them physically.
So if Wilmington (Delaware) and Manhattan voted blue then I'm absolutely certain the dems got well over 60% of the american economy, 'cause that's where all the businesses claim they're making their money. You just gotta completely ignore any actual supply chain in order to believe this bullshit, and the press sure as shit won't be double checking their shit.
Here's a video on why Delaware supposedly makes so much money for america, which btw throws shade at Joe Biden:
Yep, welcome to neoliberalism. Taxes: they're for the poor.
