Actually, it's worse since said character does not even have the excuse of being constantly mentally tormented by one of the strongest sith around, nor is her terrible treatment of Rey shown as bad. With Kylo the story has Rey rejecting his shitty actions and repeatedly stating that she'd welcome him if he saw the error of his ways. With Lilly's self-insert, Rey is presented as far more vulnerable and childish while just nodding and accepting all the red flags Alaina puts up as 'romantic'. complete with everyone good clapping for them.

Lilly's too simple minded to imagine abuse that isn't big, over the top, screaming manchild who's ready to start beating on a moments notice.

I believe she will take control of the galaxy but will be treated as the best option, and the fanfic’s message is that Aliana is the answer to all problems
