I suspect the biggest difference would have been a bit more attention paid to rock music and vidya, but otherwise Gore and Bush II would have been basically the same crap pile

True, but part of me also wonders if the Woke Left would've still emerged the way it did if Gore had won the 2000 election? I really do think the SJW culture of the 2010's and the Woke Left formed under a perfect storm of conditions with the two biggest catalysts being the Great Recession and the Bush Administration's policies that blended neoconservatism with traditionalist moral conservative rhetoric.

The Great Recession helps explain why the Woke Left is largely a trend among Millennials and older Zoomers and why they're inclined toward socialism and anarcho-communism.

But a lot of the IdPol stances initially emerged as a reaction to the stances of the Bush era American right both directly and indirectly. Critical Race Theory and intersectionality had their origins in postmodern and Marxist dominance of academia but I think the Millennials were especially susceptible to it because not only did they go to college more than any generation before them, but also a lot of them came in with a huge chip on their shoulder when it came to the Religious Right and the Neocons, especially if they grew up in the Bible Belt or in a morally conservative household.

It's quite interesting how the massive media blitz more or less died down at this point, and now we're left with sullen attempts of "Biden won why won't you give up?"

I am quite curious as to what Trump's personal lolsuits that are allegedly dropping this week are supposed to be. If the ones filed before this wasn't his.... then whose was it? I thought he already filed multiple anyway?

Granted, I'm not entirely sure what the media coverage of Bush and the American Religious Right was like in the UK and Europe back then. I'm sure @Pointless Pedant and @Judge Holden can probably give a good view of the British perspective while @Lemmingwise can give a mainland European view.

I do know American media talking heads often cited the fundies at the time as a major focal point of anti-American sentiment but I'm honestly unsure how much of that was legit versus how much was typical 2000's atheist sperging or progressives invoking what had become a common boogeyman by that point

Bush was generally seen as a buffonish manchild who had NeoCons and Army Generals mostly in control while they distracted him. Most impersonations or takes on Bush generally followed this rule. This rose considerably when, after months of trying to get the UK public to approve for war, Tony Blair got a civil servant to practically doctor up a dossier claiming that Iraq absolutely had billions of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Oddly everyone glossed over why Blair did it and mostly assumed it was purely for Bush's benefit. But he was part of the Labour party so he got away with it.

Best examples from around the time period.

Of course everyone magically forgets how much everyone hated Bush. But instead is nostalgic for him, but Biden has the potential same issue where media showing him as "out of it" in parody might get him off the hook for whatever policy he cooks up.

Based on his recent tweets, I think he might be trying to give an impression of doing one thing, but doing something else behind the scenes to create a red herring for the media to focus on. This isn’t to say that Trump doesn’t care about what he’s saying, but I think he’s keeping his actual plays a secret from the media. One thing I’ve noticed about Trump is that he’s great at getting the media to focus on something different while he’s getting the work done behind the scenes (such as the wall project). I could be wrong, but Trump doesn’t seem like the type to lay out all of his plans at once due to media interference.

He did, and he's named as a plaintiff , so I guess it's just a badly worded tweet? Maybe he's just trying to say more lawsuits are coming.

Thanksgiving is coming up. Most people aren't fixated on politics right now.

I'm seeing 50 million Americans will travel to celebrate. Already planning my menu.

Just use Brave and disable code to read the article. It is interesting though slightly more of the same. Corporation with government ties trying to save face and stonewall clinging to the idea that there system is "secure". Sure the connections to their network might be secure but all, "actual hacking" starts at the front lines ie people who have direct access to something that is the target of attack.

Edit: I attempted to Save the article as a PDF and the formatting is funky wunky missing huge chunks of the article. Sorry for those who would like to read it.

Don't forget every family guy gag involving bush

Gorka's position is that the Republicans should put pressure on Republican State Legislatures in the disputed states to not certify, which denies anyone 270 votes and forces a contingent election, which the Republicans would win.

That would be the most sane way out of this. "There's obvious fraud, the DNC has stopped us from doing a proper audit, so we're refusing to certify these obviously fraudulent results." And just stick to that and let the chips fall where they will. It's not THEM choosing to have a contingent election, it's them choosing not to certify obvious fraudulent results.

No, I don't advocate for ignoring the election results. That's exactly what the other side is doing.

Oh no, the left definitely loves the election results. They spent a lot of time and effort engineering specific results that they wanted.

But if a game is rigged the only sane move is to not play.

SO the switch between bumbling idiot and calculating genius depending on the hit started with Trump? I thought that was also a Bush thing given how hated he was.
