Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

Thoughts on Lady White Rabbit? I was recommended from the related videos on Atrocity Guide. The narration is nice but the videos need visuals. Definitely videos to listen to and not watch.

Also, there are claims of plagiarism on her Gloria Ramirez (The Toxic Lady) video, which makes me wonder if she's lifted her scripts for her other videos.
I tried to watch a few of hers and they were quite short. Was trying to learn more about the putty cave dude and she seemed to just cut off and not give much info at all.

I fall down the YT horror stuff every once and a while. I had a similar experience as other kiwis of hopping off once the ARG stuff was all that was left to binge. I definitely need to give Nick Crowley another look, I don't remember much about his channel, but I've definitely come across it.

There is a channel called Qxir, who sorta does the Sam o nella badly drawn videos about weird shit, but in a bit more of a shit posty way. He has a series he has been working on with a much more serious tone called last moments. The videos themselves are pretty short, and generally cut right to the chase with going into the known details of peculiar deaths. It's managed to give me the willies a handful of times, and might interest the same sorta morbid people who like the youtube horror stuff.

His audio is not very good, but doesn't take away much for me.

Did anyone brought up Jordan Underneath? He used to talk about horror Video games, but about 3 years ago he started to upload more dark surreal videos and changed his channel to Jordan go to sleep.
I'm a bit sad that he deleted his old game reviews, I really enjoyed them. The surrealistic stuff is not bad either, I like how often he changes his style and seemingly constantly improves on them but I don't really watch them. At least he's doing what he likes to do so I'm happy for him.

Speaking of changing styles, what are the thoughts on makeup channels that transformed into true crime channels? Such as: Eleanor Neale, Kendall Rae and their kind. In my opinion they are not particularly entertaining to watch or listen to and I only watch Eleanor Neale's videos for no other reason than they are long and I can use it as background noise while I draw but otherwise I don't go out of my way to watch her.

Also this might be just me but I feel like some of these channels are pretty disrespectful when it comes to these true crime cases, like they do their makeup (Bailey Sarian or Brittney Vaughn) or have a mukbang (ItsWannie) while they read up some serial killer's life story or tragic murder cases. I looked into their videos but I could never watch the entire thing. I don't mind if they want to do makeup (or mukbangs) and true crime videos at the same time but I think there should be a separation in their contents.

Regarding True Crime content, I would rather watch people who are coming out of a place of passion, like That Chapter. Serial Killer documentaries is another good channel as well when it comes to true crime content. That or I can go to the Real Responders channel for some old syndicated stuff

He's been brought up before, but I can vouch for Fascinating Horror being pretty good. Found him by complete accident when checking out some random youtuber who kept shilling his content on an older blameitonjorge video. He covers historical and more recent incidents, and his videos are usually pretty short. First video of his that I watched was about the Dreamworld River Rapids accident, if my watch history is right.

As for content creators that've been mentioned several times here, I agree that Nexpo's content has been going downhill ever since he started imitating MamaMax, whose editing style I can only stand watching for so long at a time, to the point that I just put it on in the background while doing other things. Night Mind is in a similar vein, in terms of usually being background noise if I've seen it before, unless I find it interesting enough to actually watch. I like his older videos, such as the series explaining Marble Hornets and EMH, but I don't like his smug, know-it-all vibe in his more recent videos.

I feel like John Ballen and Darkness Prevails try to be original, and are good at narrating.

Would anyone watch a high-quality text to speech narration channel? Narrations, but with different voices for different characters, some sound effects, and playing with the tone of different voices.

I don't think Horror Show Mickey has been mentioned. He used to have narrations of Junji Ito stories until they got DMCA'd. Now it's mostly stories & comics with a Vault of Horror, Tales from the Crypt feel to them. He's got a good voice for these types of stories. Low & laidback that has you waiting for an evil cackle that never comes.

How the hell do you get DMCA'd for reading manga? Is Junji really that defensive of his work?

Without knowing anything about the case, I'd lay blame on the English publisher. Japanese producers tend to be more chill about this sort of thing.

Dunno if you've seen this, but here's a vid by some cavers who lay out their view of the Nutty Putty Cave incident.

Basically. From what I remember it was around a year ago that Viz Media went after online sources of Ito's work. Mickey's channel was targeted, short reddit thread discussing it, but no real reason why as he only had snippets of the work with his own narration. A real shame as Mickey added a much needed audio to Ito's masterful visuals.

I like this guy, he's got inflections down in a way that helps the stories. It would be nice if he had some other content besides the comics, since I think he'd do justice to the other kinds of horror more typically found online.

I seen Creepswork a few times in this thread, he is actually just as bad if not worse than MamaMax and Nexpo.

He isn't active anymore not because of youtube fucking with his revenue, but because of a falling out with his ex and the group of friends they had.

He literally left because when he did a rant with a user named IcyHazard who was his girlfriend at the time that acts just like him just with shitter art and an open clown fetish.

How it started was a video criticizing the clown fetish girl came out saying her videos were shit (they were) and they both got upset over it that they made a livestream insulting that person and also making an HOUR-LONG video in response to it. (No, I am not joking)

What happened was he made fun of anime fans in the video, but when the anime fans called him a "faggot," back he got really upset and started crying over it saying he was being harassed.

They broke up not long after because she didn't want to be associated with him anymore due to how much of a laughing stock he had become in the community for crying over shit he even said himself on the regular.
This was made even worse with users coming out saying how he would talk about anyone who criticized him he was going to hire a hitman from the deep web to kill them all. (he was being serious too lol)

His final leave came from when he sperged out hardcore claiming his ex stole the sandman story from him.
When people started to make fun of him for it again, he got angry and left the community altogether.

He then went to discord server after discord server afterwards complaining for an entire year about how they did him dirty until he was laughed off the internet entirely.

It was the funniest and dumbest thing I have ever seen

But yeah avoid him, he probably the biggest sperg out of the bunch.

Considering his biggest point of noteriety was being some guy who read 4 chan greentexts with the music from videogames over them it supries absolutely no one that creepswork is a sped
The only good "horror youtubers" are mutahar and fredrick knudsen, although I'm a bit nostalgia biased towards muta

I'm so happy this thread was made because that Nexpo pedo video just made me lose any lingering interest I might've had in "horror youtube."

ARG's are fucking gay and I can't stand any youtuber that makes videos about ARG's going "ERH MA GAWD IS IT REAL OR NOT??? SO SPOOKY."
There are barely any good ARG's to begin with so seeing youtubers like Nexpo and Night Mind milk retarded shit like I Am Sophie, This Room Does Not Exist, HaUntEd TwiTtEr AcCouNtS or any crappy slenderman ripoff, etcetera, I just roll my eyes. Feels like literal content for little kids.

The only good ARG's I can think of from the top of my head are anything Wham City creates, Post Content and Local58, but even in those cases can you even call it an ARG? It feels more like just art projects with lots of hidden secrets for fans to enjoy deciphering. Everything else is already so tryhard and overdone, watching horror youtubers hype it up like it's some serious spooky stuff makes it even cringier.

I can't praise Horror Stories enough, the guy gives no shits and gets straight to the point. If you wanna watch actual morbid stuff that somehow don't get booted off youtube, he's the one.
I don't care for stupid and obviously fake cliche 4chan creepypastas (don't get me started on shit like Erratas) so other than Horror Stories I just mainly watch Barely Sociable and blameitonjorge. They both have their spergy moments but I like that they don't pretend something is more than it actually is, and they actually prioritize giving real facts over dramatizing the story.

The Exploring Series is probably one of my favorite youtube channels. You might be put off at first if you're not already into SCP but give it a shot, it's worth it. The fact that he's not even pretending to be in character or doing spooky creepypasta narration and still manages to make legit horror content should say enough. I can't decide what video of his I like the most because they're all great but this is one of the top ones in my opinion

I actually like Chills. Weird delivery aside, he seems like a nice guy in his livestreams, and his rap songs are (surprisingly) not terrible. He also seems to be good-natured about people making fun of him. A lot of people with threads here could learn a thing or two.

I used to be a big Corpse Husband fan but lately I feel as though he’s kinda sold out. I liked it better when he was doing his own thing in his own little niche, before he started rubbing shoulders with people like Pokimane.

I’ve seen these two mentioned elsewhere, but NaturesTemper and TheDarkSomnium could probably be considered S rank when it comes to narration quality. Their voice acting skills are phenomenal and they’re both really good at conveying emotion. NaturesTemper is really good at doing voices and accents too, and can convincingly play multiple characters in the same story by himself. Somnium does all his own background music, and it’s great.

A lesser known one is Spirit Voices. She is also really good at conveying emotion, and if the previous two are S tier, she’d probably be considered A. She’d be higher but her content output is a little sluggish. She doesn’t have too big of a following at this time, but I think she really deserves it so you should check her out. She sometimes shows up in Somnium’s videos, as well as those of Somnium’s girlfriend RomNex.

Petscop is a pretty fun series, and one of the few video game-related horror series I actually enjoy. It takes a bit to actually pick up though.

Chilling Tales for Dark Nights is also worth checking out. In addition to regular contributors like GM Danielson, Jason Hill, and Otis Jiry (Great narrators, all three) they also do an annual voice acting competition called “Evil Idol,” which is good for giving exposure to up and coming narrators.

Scary Story Time with Liam was pretty good, he wrote all his own stories. Unfortunately he’s quit and most of his videos aren’t there anymore.

MichaelLeroi. Not really a horror channel, more horror-adjacent. They do a series called “Bad Creepypasta” which is exactly what it sounds like, they read shitty creepypastas and take the piss out of them. I’ve actually talked to a couple of them, they’re pretty cool guys.

I like the concept, and they have some decent episodes, but when I let it run often it turns into a spergfest of exaggerated laughter, seven people competing to land a joke first, and some really painful guests. I can believe they're cool guys though.

IMO, FishStickOnAStick is the safer choice between people who trash poor creepypasta (which I'd be surprised if it didn't have a thread), since he's a solo act and a lot more orderly, despite being a shitposty guy.
