The Last Of Us Part II Game Awards - The Last of Us Part II

Is Geoff Keighley human?

So, in the latest game awards, can anyone tell me which orchestra they hired? The reason for this is that I want to dig and see if the 'Boots' guy who got a brief amount of negative attention for playing the Shakuhachi flute in 2018 either just was not available, or with the orchestra that was hired, or cucked himself to the black guy playing it, (or perhaps miming the playing of it since I looked and found no professional Shakuhachi players who resembled him) because 'Boots' felt that a POC should be the one (or corporate felt that they didn't want any bad tweets written about them this time). This may be way too much of an in depth read, so feel free to rate with puzzle piece or something. I am curious though about the orchestra and if the black guy was already a part of the orchestra and there was simply a small part to play with that instrument, and he was already adept in playing similar instruments then I would understand that this situation was fairly cut and dry. I mean, it's not as if they can hire a bunch of people from corners of the globe even if they are bringing in hot doritos cash. Anyway, if anyone wants to help me see if there was a forced diversity moment here, or if it was quite simply happenstance, then feel free to.

I'm a bit disappointed not to see Half-Life: Alyx not on there, but it isnt a bad selection at all. I wonder what will happen if TLOU2 gets all or even a majority of the awards it was nominated for? Also, I should set some time aside to play Hades as well I guess.

Friendly reminder that the viewers/gamers/audience's vote only counts for a tiny percentage so it has no impact on the Game Awards. The gaming press is the one who chooses the winner for each category.

>Sony gets to put 2 nominees in the same category for the same game

Sony's black Spider-Man game was released a week ago and it already has 2 nominations?

I love how they have fixed the Content Creator of the Year award after TotalBiscuit won so that they can push their former gamejourno friends like Greg Miller and Alanah Pearce. It's funny that no actual content creator is on the list this year.
Best esports host: no Richard Lewis or Thorin 🤔

Also what is Hades and why are they forcing it in every category?

lmao @ tlou2 being a serious contender in any category as well as most of the trashy, pozzed titles making up the other categories

least apex is actually a somewhat entertaining fps but nothing about it is special

Hades is the new rougelite released by supergiant. It's pretty good

TLOU2 aside, that's actually a pretty decent line-up. I voted for DOOM though I'd be fine with any of the other four winning.

The awards are the same shit as the Oscars. The movies - or games in this case - that bombed in theatres or initial release get the awards so that people buy the discs so those idiots can make up the cost by selling to other idiots that see "X NOMINATED" or "X WINNER".

No different here.

If I were a betting man, it would be between Animal Crossing and Ghosts of Tsushima.
The dark house obviously being DOOM: Eternal.

If I were a judge for an awards show without having any gaming experience, it would be Final Fantasy VII Remake, since we now love sequels and remakes to games for some reason.

If I were an outsider, I’d choose Hades and seriously ask myself, “Why would I have to choose between this obscure title and TLOU 2? Is this a personal attack towards gamers or something?

I'm not bothered by the idea that TLOU2 is probably going to win GOTY because I don't think the amount of awards something wins is indicative of whether that game is enjoyable, and TLOU is the video game equivalent of an Oscar bait movie so it winning is the expected outcome.

I'm annoyed because if it does win, people are not going to shut the fuck up about it. There's gonna be a ton of posts about how "haters and trolls can try to review bomb it but this award proves them wrong" or some bullshit, and I bet even Druckmann and some combination of Troy Baker/Laura Bailey/Ashley Johnson are gonna be all smug about it. Especially Troy.

My bet is on Hades, they need to pander to indie game fans more, show everybody that "even the small guy can win" and the game already has straight 10s across the board. They might also use it to shill epic since it was on their store initially. Otherwize probably Ghost of Tsushima since its inoffensive.
TLOU2 is going to win a few meaningless awards but i probably nothing major, they dont want to catch more shit from the public so theyll silently dismiss it. Thats kinda what nominations are for anyway.
DOOM probably wont get anything because the public opinion soured on it quickly post release. I dont think its that good either.

TLOU2 is going to win a few for sure then. That's the crowd Cuckmann pandered to, the dangerhair games journalists. Meanwhile Tsushima got good praise but also some awful shill reviews where they one for one compared it to TLOU2 and how that was better.
